Is the Dyson hairdryer worth it?

I've wanted one for so long but could never justify the money. Is it worth it? How have you found drying time and hair condition?

I like mine. You can have a conversation whilst they are on, drying time been cut by about 13 mins.

Hair feels smoother and its easier to straighten afterwards.

dhisannoying · 28/12/2018 21:17

Yes, love mine. You could probably get one a bit cheaper on Facebook marketplace x

Love it.

I've got a parlux and prefer it! It's ok but made my hair like straw. Dries fast. Wouldn't buy again.

Neweternal · 28/12/2018 21:24

Just to add my friend is hairdresser and she says she can tell who uses one from the state of their hair, like straw and tuggy. Looks great though. Try on qvc

I got the Airwrap for Xmas to use for drying and curling. It's amazing. I'm slightly ashamed of the cost of it (I split it 50/50 with DH) but I'm hoping it will last for decades years.

Agree you can have a conversation over it, same as the hairdryer which I also tried out and loved, but I was loathe to spend so much on a one trick pony.

SouthWestmom · 28/12/2018 21:39

Tried one in an hotel we stayed in - awful. Not sure if that's because of it maybe being an hotel model or over use?

waryandbored · 28/12/2018 21:44

Yes yes yes! I’ve had mine for a month and it’s made such a difference. I used to have to set aside a good hour and a half to wash, dry and straighten my hair. Today it took 20 minutes! I have very thick, frizzy, wavy hair and this dryer works wonders.

Santasballsack · 28/12/2018 22:12

Naturally curly here and it was life changer my hair is dry before it frizzes fir tge first time ever. I also save around 25 minutes with diffuser attached

WhenLifeGivesYouLemonsx · 29/12/2018 06:21

I can't justify paying that much money for a hair dryer so I will stick to my Remington which is loud but it only takes a little less than 5 mins to dry my hair as it is short and fine.

Starlight90 · 29/12/2018 08:16

No. Tried one in a salon with a diffuser and it was too hot on the 1st setting. Diffuser was small too. Its a nice looking thing but ends there

PETRONELLAS · 29/12/2018 08:22

I’ve got one. My hair does not look like straw what a bizarre generalisation.
I really like mine. Never thought I loved it until I was away and used a friends cheap normal dryer. Can’t go back.
I’ve also got a Parlux but cannot understand the fuss at all.

pilates · 29/12/2018 08:37

Yes love it

Grace212 · 29/12/2018 08:44

I'm known for being tighter than a gnat's arse but I bought one of these from QVC (so full refund option available).

I have long thick curly hair which I wash daily. (gym, public transport etc etc)

Dyson - at a push, I can do 90 seconds drying and get out of the door for work. That's with highest speed and heat, so I don't usually do that, but it can be done, which is good. Normally I spend a full 5 mins on it, lol. So it was worth it for me.

Grace212 · 29/12/2018 08:45

sorry, with previous hairdryer it was about 10-15 alongside faffing and styling with a round brush or the Babyliss Big Hair.

Blankiefan · 29/12/2018 08:48

I have one and love it. Saves so much time.

But - I also got the airwrap for Xmas and it's AMAZING. I don't really need the hairdryer anymore.

So if you think you'll get the airwrap, don't get the hairdryer first as the dryer is £300 and the airwrap is £400. (The airwrap has a rough hairdryer part of in it).
