Anyone else feel sad coming home after being away?

Just got back home after being at OH's parents the past few days and I feel incredibly sad.

I love being around people and having dinner and breakfast together just watching films. Having other people to talk to I love it.

Now I'm back home to reality I could cry!

Anyone else the same?

Yes ! Just got in house is freezing, kids are bickering and no alcohol in the house. FML.

hugoagogo · 28/12/2018 17:33

I always feel incredibly happy and relaxed when I go away from the town I live in, but happy to come back to the sanctuary if my house if that makes sense.

It sounds like you would be happier with more people around you? I take it things aren't likely to change for you anytime soon?

cupofteapleasee · 28/12/2018 17:36

We don't live far away only 30 minutes but it's just been nice no work everyone relaxing in their pyjamas it's been lovely. Wish it could last a little longer x

@Eminado same here takes ages to heat up as well.

No, I feel blessed relief to get back to my own home after stopping in somebody else's, particularly when there's been a lot of people around.

Coming home from holidays makes me sad though.

Starlight90 · 28/12/2018 17:37

No. I hate going away and love coming back!

Kernowgal · 28/12/2018 17:38

Yes, me too. Just got back from a week back home with family and friends and although I'm about to go out to a party with lots of friends, I feel a bit bereft being back home on my tod.

I think it's quite normal to feel like this, even if you are glad to be in your own home again.

MyNameIsNotSteven · 28/12/2018 19:45

I used to feel like this after coming home from my DM's after
Christmas. She died a couple of years ago so we just spend it at home now. I know exactly how you feel though Thanks

Kikipost · 28/12/2018 19:47

Totally don’t relate

I love socialising but I absolutely adore coming home. My lovely cosy clean tidy wonderful HOME. Heaven.

Kikipost · 28/12/2018 19:47

Plus I have Nest. So I can remotely set my heating. So we walk in and it’s toasty

AnneLovesGilbert · 28/12/2018 19:50

I’m also the opposite. Happy to visit people and nice places but nothing makes me happier than coming home. My sofa, my house smell, the best shower in the world, peace and quiet. It’s the best.

muchprefersummer · 28/12/2018 19:58

We've been away for Christmas but in a cottage 6 hours from anybody we know and I've loved it. I really don't want to go home. I've loved being away from everybody other than DH and DC for a while. Don't get me wrong I love home and I love socialising but I get tired of doing it all the time.

KnockMeDown · 28/12/2018 20:00

I don't mind going away, but I always love coming home, to my own bed, and own space.

I guess we are all different!

Bottomplasters · 28/12/2018 20:00

God no

ForalltheSaints · 28/12/2018 20:01

I don't feel sad at all. I have as short a period away at Christmas as possible, and was back at work today. I'd rather have time off at other times of year.

hmmwhatatodo · 28/12/2018 20:46

Yes I feel exactly the same.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 28/12/2018 20:49

I’m the same.

We’re in a cottage a long way from home and reality and I wish I could stay here and hide forever.

Life has been pretty challenging over the last couple of years, and being in this lovely calm and tranquil place makes me realise how unhappy I am.

It’s not going to be any easier when we get back either.

Fabulouslyfatatfifty · 28/12/2018 20:52

I felt the same. We had an absolutely lovely time with extended family, 20 plus folk, food, drink, dancing, films, chat. It was a bubble of fun/love .... then I came home.

payperview · 28/12/2018 21:06

Yes! I have a good cry after a holiday. I spend a couple of weeks thinking back to it- e.g. 'I'd be sitting by the pool right now'. It's such a luxury not having to cook too!

Largepiecesofcrookedwood · 28/12/2018 21:18

Not really Grin
I'm always excited to go on holiday, but we have pets and live in a lovely friendly little village so I'm always happy to get home.
DH OTOH would never leave if I didn't book holidays or arrange to visit family.

Shockers · 28/12/2018 21:28

We went away earlier in December and DH loved it so much, he’s booked to go back in January. It’s usually me who doesn’t want to come home!

I’m not complaining though.

I could be a traveller, I think- with my own space, like a caravan though. I don’t like staying with other people very much.

Mumshappy · 28/12/2018 21:32

I couldnt wait to come home to my own bed and own space. I can only tolerate larger family groups for a short period of time. I like being around people but then i like to retreat to my own little bubble.

AlexaAmbidextra · 29/12/2018 01:16

Yes, I feel really flat. Stayed in an amazing hotel over Christmas and wish I was still there.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 29/12/2018 01:37

The best part of going away for me is coming home, my lovely calm cosy happy place, I don’t really like being away from it to be honest, being away from it does makes me appreciate it even more though!

Flower777 · 29/12/2018 05:38

I LOVE going home! Especially from in-laws!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 29/12/2018 06:05

No as we've not been away but we all had a good cry when my DM left after 3 fabulous days together!
