Harry Potter Studio Tips Please

I have tickets for DS (11), DH and I to go to the Harry Potter studios tomorrow.

It seemed like a great idea when I got the tickets 7 months ago- I thought it would be lovely to have something to fill the time between Christmas and New Year.

In reality DH and I have been working a lot and we are all a little jaded after a hectic Christmas and colds all round.

Our tickets are for 5pm, and I'm not sure how it all works.

Any tips or explanations as to what to expect would be brilliant. I feel if I knew what to expect I might feel a bit more enthusiastic!

Glad you had good time OP. I took dd recently and loved it.

It was meant to be a birthday treat but I had no idea you needed to book so far in advance. I booked in early September and the first available date we were able to do was 18th December

Apologies, my finances don't quite work like that
Eh? What does that have to do with booking something in advance? You shouldn't have lied, end of. Nice lesson to teach your kid, that you can lie to get what you want. Great parenting there.

Interestingly no one came forward during our session to claim their birthday treat of opening the great doors. It's not a big deal IMO- we stood back and it was still an incredible sight....

I would anticipate that loads of people are there as a 'birthday treat' i.e. they have been bought tickets for their birthday but their actual visit takes place after their birthday has passed. It's an expensive trip so is ideal as a birthday gift.

So IMO it's really not fair to claim it is someone's birthday on the basis that their tickets were bought for their birthday. It's a lie, and not a good life lesson plus really unfair on anyone lucky enough to be there on their actual birthday.

Exactly, OP. When DS wanted to go on his actual birthday, we had to book over six months in advance to ensure we got the day. Even then he shared the experience with another child.

Glad you had a good time - I guarantee you'll be back Grin

I took DS last week.for his birthday on his birthday - it made his day opening the doors together with 2 older kids. I booked the tickets nearly a year in advance to guarantee the date and time slot. I'd be unimpressed if someone else had pushed him out because they were there for their birthday but it wasn't actually that day.

When we went, they asked "who's here for their birthday?" so ds went up, rest of family didn't. There were about a dozen kids plus some supervising adults.
