I smell (urine incontinence)

EmbarrassingThing · 27/12/2018 18:51

I'm 32 and pee a lot.

Obviously I change my underwear daily but by the night (and usually earlier) they are soaked through to my outerwear

I can't wear pos a few nights in a row

My urine is very strong too and I can smell it

I'm sick of it.
GP is useless. Just tell me to do kegals.

Youngest is 6 so not a recent problem.

It's very embarrassing

Anyone else found something that helps?

Also I've been ill recently so been coughing a lot and I pee a bit with every cough :(

Some people prefer fabric cloth pads, ones like bamboo are thin, absorbent and you just throw them in the wash. I would get some kind of pad along side doing your research on finding help, you shouldn’t just have to accept this. For some people nothing can be done but there’s lots of things that can be tried to find the cause and help

I would suggest not sharing personal anecdotes on this thread.

mortifiedmama · 27/12/2018 21:05

peachgreen if someone wants to wank over my golden showers they can have at it!

Yes I find it embarrassing buying Tena pads. I now order them In bulk when on offer online and pick them up from my local boots store in a nice brown box!

I have had 2 ops to try and cure, 1st hysterectomy and bladder repair, failed after 3 months. A year later bladder and rectal repair. Failed immediately. Due to complications. Needed 6 pints of blood and an emergency repair. Due to this I can’t put myself through another surgery.

I have bladder and bowel incontinence. Very distressing all round.

I find Tena the best of the bunch.

Amazonian27 · 27/12/2018 21:11

Watching with interest I use TENA everyday having a cough is a complete nightmare.

Politicalacuityisathing · 27/12/2018 21:13

I think some period pants can be used for incontinence? I have wuka and I'm sure they say can be used.

BigFarmer · 27/12/2018 21:13

It’s the thing that we woman do not talk about

MN gets more than it's share of these threads. Merry Christmas Pisstroll, reddit wouldn't be the same without you.

I use this daily since my last baby was born.
I can do everything apart from trampolining without a leak.

LadyB49 · 27/12/2018 21:21

I always carry a spare pad and knickers in my bag. Kell them in a make up bag.

LadyB49 · 27/12/2018 21:22

Oops... Keep them !!

picklemebaubles · 27/12/2018 21:27

Washable pads are great! They are soft and comfy, and keep you feeling dry. Just throw them in the wash with the rest of your underwear.

EmbarrassingThing · 27/12/2018 21:28

FGS.

I'm not a troll or a pervert.

I'm a mother of 4 who has had 4 natural births including tearing twice, badly.

And no I didn't want to wear a pad everyday. I hate warring them once a month. They make me feel sweaty and seem to give me thrush so in a way I thought I would rather be damp and a bit piss than sweaty and thrushy!

I know it's a shame that there are a lot of odd balls rolling up to mumsnet but I've been here since my first was born, FOURTEEN years ago. And it's kind of shitty that as a woman I cannot talk about my post child body and the unfortunate issues that come with it without such suspicion :(

It can help to cut out caffeine and lose weight. Pilates also helps.

Most importantly, it’s common but not normal so go back to your gp and insist on a referral.

EmbarrassingThing · 27/12/2018 21:31

I had one of those electrical kegal things years ago but I had to stop using it as I have a really bad nickel allergy and it must have contained it as had a reaction to it! Really most unpleasant.

Maybe it's worth trying again if I can confirm they are nickel free now days?

I do need to lose weight. About 6 stone :(

Mantle, how awful :( I'm so sorry to hear that.

OP posts:
RockinRobinTweets · 27/12/2018 21:33

Unfortunately it really contributes. Basically the muscles struggle to support your pelvic floor and the more weight you’re putting on it, the harder it has to work.

EmbarrassingThing · 27/12/2018 21:35

I promised myself i would lose weight in 2019 so this is extra incentive.

Bungleinthejungle · 27/12/2018 21:38

Have you seen a physio who specialises in diastasis and pelvic floor issues? My friend works as a specialist PT in this area and does classes in it. Is there anyone in your area who does any holistic core restore classes. I did these classes and it really improved my issues with this. I do get some leakage but hugely improved.

mortifiedmama · 27/12/2018 21:44

EmbarrassingThing you need to see a professional before buying any devices. There may be several issues needing addressing. Save your money until after you've seen some one.

CthulhuInDisguise · 27/12/2018 21:49

I have urge incontinence and have been to see a female GP recently about it. She was great and prescribed me Tolterodine Tartrate 4mg (the max dose) as a precursor to having botox in my bladder. She also recommended using glass Ben Wa balls to help with kegel exercises. I have found Waitrose own brand sensitive bladder pads the most reliable and comfortable.

I recently had to wear incontinence pants on a flight, because I was too worried about not being able to hold it in whilst in transit. They were comfy enough but I was really conscious all day of wearing a nappy. If the medication and botox can prevent me having to wear those I will be happy.

Guacatrole · 27/12/2018 21:55

Really unkind @anyfucker I posted a very similar thread last year, and I’m not a troll. It’s embarrassing to buy pads and I just kept putting it off out of shame. It’s really common and very embarrassing, hardly unusual for a woman in 30s with children but people don’t realise it. We should absolutely discuss and can’t think of anywhere more appropriate.

op I was directed to search MN for gussiegrips (sp?) strangely she also does a related informative comedy routine 🤨

I also have a lot of weight to lose and had 3 children in quick succession. Large large children

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 27/12/2018 21:57

Caffiene and alcohol are both bladder irritants - I don't let my boys drink Coke on long car journeys. If you are planning on seeing a PT you must let them know about incontinence - it is surprisingly common for younger people, even men.

Guacatrole · 27/12/2018 21:58

I also wasn’t sure at first if it was actually wee as was quite damp, but not actually pissing myself in one gush. Just leaking like an old car 😒 Felt like I smelled though

Guacatrole · 27/12/2018 21:59

Botox in the bladder!?
