Anyone own a cross trainer?

I think I would get a lot of use out of one and have cleared a spot in the garage. Looking online they seem to cost between 90 quid to thousands, so any recommendations? I am nearly 13 stone so looking for something fairly sturdy.

I don't know but following and wondered if these are OK in pregnancy?

We have a reebok one from Argos and it has been fine. People who have used it range from 8stones to 16 stones. It does squeak a bit when it needs tightened but it’s been fine for general use. The aftercare was good too as we had an issue and a technician came out and fixed it no problem.

We have got a York one. We have had it for a while, and it gets quite a lot of use. It is sturdily built and will easily cope with someone quite a bit heavier than you.

It cost about £500 new, but we got it for £150 on eBay, we had to go and pick it up.

I've used one at the gym and it's beyond boring. I'd rather go for a brisk stroll somewhere useful or beautiful, is this an option for you? Are you sure you will enjoy it and use it?

Kettler. 450 about 15 years ago. We need replacement parts occasionally but its great. Used 2 times a week for 10k a time.

I do - an elliptical cross trainer bike combo - is fab. Cost me £200 I think, 5 years ago. It is in front of the telly in spare room to alleviate any boredom. The outside moving arms can be taken off if you want and the central fixed loop handlepart has computer which measures time, distance, pulse etc.

I try and do 10K about 5 x a week if I can. Is amazing how quick you build up your stamina.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 27/12/2018 21:41

@MrsJamin I used to love it in the gym when I had time to go, was my fav bit of equipment. I already walk around 25k a week (according to pokemon go...) but I only have time to do a high intensity workout once my son is in bed and I can't leave the house then.

Check facebook marketplace. You can pick one up for really cheap

Grace212 · 27/12/2018 21:44

I had one from PowerhouseFitness though I can't recall the brand

it was brilliant. Cost about £300 I think.

Sadly when I bought my own home (rented place was bigger) I had no room for it. But yes it was great, I don't think there was any need to spend more for daily use, and there was the added bonus of using it more than once a day because it was right there....so if you ever had that thing of really needing to a high intensity thing, or if it's raining...so handy.

but yes, that was a while ago, but for one person's use that price bracket was fine and it was in great condition for years.

Grace212 · 27/12/2018 21:46

PS before anyone asks, I am in a small flat so really did have to part with it...someone got a bargain second hand though, so if you want to save money, there's that option.

savagebaggagemaster · 27/12/2018 22:00

I have one which was bought on amazon for about £150. Can't seem to get the tension correct and I've no idea how 'stiff' it should be Confused. It would be good if I used it, but it has been a good clothes horse.
