Multi-cookers: worth it?

So, for Christmas my partner and I received, among other things, a multi-cooker. While very generous, it is not something I have the vaguest clue about the utility of! We have a small kitchen and the cooker is a circular shape, diameter 40cm (pretty huge, labelled as 'family size'). I simply have no idea where to put it. There's only me, DH and DD (six months old) at home. Is it worth trying to find a space for it, or shall I just get rid?

I'd like to know if they're good. Our slow cooker doesn't have much time left in this world and I came across multi cookers when looking for a replacement, I'm very tempted, but tthen wonder if I'm better off sticking with a slow cooker.

What sort? I've got an Instant Pot, which is an electric pressure cooker that also slow-cooks.

I absolutely LOVE my Instant Pot and use it all the time. I suggest you watch some YouTube videos to help you get the hang of it. It is so easy!

To add, slow cookers can't even compare to pressure cooking. The difference is massive. You can have a meal on the table in less than an hour whereas a slow cooker takes all day and the flavor isn't nearly as good.

I've wanted one for ages, watching with interest.

I have one. I would not part with it at all. I have done so many things with it from massive fry up (guests staying) to roasting a chicken and all the trimmings. Also roast beef and trimmings. Fried steaks and chops. Even made scones in it. I would say great item for small kitchen

If its an Instant Pot it's absolutely worth finding space for, it's way, way better than my old slowcooker.

I have a tefal one and love it for making curry or casserole type meals using the frying setting for the onions then the low casserole setting for the rest. I've only ever cooked veggie stuff in it and no sweet things but it's been well worth it and brilliant for putting on and ignoring while I'm with DD.

I have something similar - an electric pressure cooker. I actually bought it when I was weaning DS as it meant I could cook something in the afternoon and keep in on the keep warm setting until he was ready for his dinner and then keep it warm until DP and I wanted dinner as DS would often want to eat much earlier than us. So basically it was a godsend. Does good meals too and makes meat tender in a much shorter time than a slow cooker.
