We have Christmas Norovirus. Oh joy...

As the title says. I could cry... DD9 has been vomiting with 30-40 minute regularity since 9pm last night.

Dinner for 12 at ours today. About to make the call to the in-laws to give them the choice of still coming or accepting a raw Christmas dinner food parcel which DH can deliver and run.

Best laid plans and all that....

Sorry to hear that OP and I hope it's not too bad. You should have a second Christmas when everyone is healthy again.

princessspotify · 25/12/2018 09:50

oh no your poor DD. hope she better soon

confusedandemployed · 25/12/2018 09:50

Oh no, you have my sympathies OP. I woke with a UTI so I'm also feeling like shit. At least I don't have to cook though.

Starlight90 · 25/12/2018 10:05

Im in bed. No voice, throat is on fire. Hot and cold and cant eat. 5 of us and dad for lunch so DH and the kids will have to cook.

Its terrible not being able to enjoy.

merrypukemas · 25/12/2018 10:30

Update: in-laws will brave it and take the risk. DD quite happily ensconced on the sofa with her head in a bucket and Mariah is warbling in the background.

Casa Pukemas is business as usual. Boxing Day at be a different story....

Get well vibes to all who need them today Thanks

I've got ds2 in bed with a temperature. I've got that feeling of wobbly guts and no appetite. I'm hoping Calpol for him and sheer bloody mindedness for me will see us through. Luckily no guests this year.

HermioneWeasley · 25/12/2018 10:38

How miserable. Lots of hand washing and disinfecting toilet, door handles etc to try and contain it

merrypukemas · 25/12/2018 10:43

On it Hermione! Luckily I had stocked up on Zoflora and Dettol recently as I use them to clean my floors anyway.

Been through almost a full 500ml bottle of Zoflora already. Wouldn't usually be so proactive but the threat of making guests ill is not great...

Still, they come at their own risk and we didn't sugar coat the truth.

DD is also fairly perky despite prolific spewing 🤢

I’m sick. I thought I’d escaped it, as after nursing ds5, ds6 and dh through it over the last 2 weeks we finally had 72 hours of no illness... only for me to be sick 10 minutes ago. Luckily dh is cooking so no need to throw out the Christmas dinner. I did make breakfast though...
Currently feeling really guilty at having to miss Christmas dinner as dh has been prepping for 2 days. Feel like I’ve ruined Christmas Sad

Amara123 · 25/12/2018 11:27

Just to say bleach is the most effective for killing norovirus... antibacterial gels or cleaning materials don't work as well.

mrsclausisdrunk · 25/12/2018 11:28

I'm gobsmacked anyone would come in to a house with noro. It's doing the rounds here. Every single person in the household gets it. Our doctor said being in the same house makes it pretty impossible to avoid, especially if someone's at the vomiting stage, then it's airbourne.

Are they aware of how contagious and how horrific it is?

Dowser · 25/12/2018 11:30

I have an ibs flare up
But it won’t stop me going for my Xmas dinner
I shall be very careful

merrypukemas · 25/12/2018 11:49

Mrsclaus I've been completely honest with them and not played it down at all. I offered for DH to deliver dinner to in-laws uncooked so they could host at theirs without us.

I've cleaned, bleached and cleaned again as I'm totally aware of how contagious it is and I'm expecting that we will come down with it ourselves tomorrow.

My parents have decided to stay put and not visit as my DDad doesn't keep well and I have a relation they will come into contact with who is awaiting major lifesaving surgery.

DD has been moved to her own room. Not sure what else I can do if they're hellbent on visiting?

@merrypukemas no no I'm not suggesting you e underplayed it or haven't done enough. I'm just gobsmacked they'd risk it!

Maybe they've not had it recently. We had it three times last year and I swear it's scarred me for life! Grin

merrypukemas · 25/12/2018 12:55

Fingers crossed they dodge the bullet!!! I'd hate for them to get it but they've made the decision themselves to risk it.

Personally I'd have taken the M&S sealed everything at the door wearing a face man and fired the presents out the window whilst mouthing "Merry Christmas, Get Well Soon, see you next week" WinkGrin
