What ones are worth letting them watch what to avoid?

I avoided Peppa pig when the oldest was young and in the night garden.

What about Paw Patrol and PJ Masks?

What wrong with peppa and in the night garden?

My child liked almost everything on CBeebies.

Santababyclaus · 25/12/2018 15:19

Most of the cbeebies programs are educational/have some moral element to it. I'm completely confused why you'd think pj masks or paw patrol would be preferable to night garden or peppa pig.

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 25/12/2018 15:35

I came on here to say Hey Duggee then realised my username kind of beat me too it. DH and I love it as much as DS - some subtle (and not so subtle) humour that the grown ups will appreciate as much as the kids. And the background music is great.

Other than that you can't really dictate what they watch - they will end up watching something you can't bear (Paw Patrol, Chuggington) but it's not for you anyway.

Demand 5 has a good selection as well as iPlayer - you can watch episodes of Thomas the Tank Engine, Peppa, Ben & Holly etc.

And all the Julia Donaldson ones (Gruffalo, Room on the Broom etc) are on iPlayer at the moment. Lovely to watch and only on for a limited time.

Raspberry88 · 25/12/2018 15:42

Cbeebies is great...very educational. I absolutely love watching Something Special.

Bunnyhop1502 · 25/12/2018 15:48

We love Hey Duggy and Sarah & Duck. The panda from Hey Duggee is my spirit guide.

Passmethecrisps · 25/12/2018 16:01

Absolutely anything on CBeebies. We are watching octonauts right now. My eldest dd frequently comes out with nautical facts from that.

Passmethecrisps · 25/12/2018 16:03

I am not keen on paw patrol or pj masks to be honest. If they are going to watch telly - which mine do - then I would prefer there was a learning element. Maybe if I limited screen time more I would be more comfortable with telly for telly’s sake.

4point2fleet · 25/12/2018 16:16

Once they are 4 or 5 I would say it's worth letting them watch a little bit of whatever 'everybody' is watching. It's pretty rubbish if all the kids at pre-school run around pretending to be the characters out of Paw Patrol and you have only ever been allowed to watch clips of The Blue Planet.

KindergartenKop · 25/12/2018 17:01

Ben and Holly is hilarious.

BackforGood · 25/12/2018 17:25

Might be easier if you tell us what it is you object to about Peppa Pig and In the Night Garden, as most people don't find them offensive.

Shutupanddance1 · 25/12/2018 17:45

Puffin Rock is lovely - it’s on Netflix

KindergartenKop · 25/12/2018 19:51

Personally I find all the swearing in Peppa Pig a bit much.

NerrSnerr · 25/12/2018 19:59

Both mine loved Peppa, Hey Duggie, Paw Patrol, PJ Masks, Octonauts, Go Jetters and Mr Tumble etc.

Everything doesn't have to be for the purpose of education, children should be able to watch something (age appropriate) because they like it.

AnotherPidgey · 25/12/2018 20:28

I just found Peppa Pig highly irritating, significantly due to months of listening to the tinny sounds of someone else's child watching it on loop on a tablet down the corridor every week at swimming.

CBeebies is good. Mine also watched Rescue Bots, Bubbleguppies, Fireman Sam and Thomas on catch-up or DVDs.

Stompythedinosaur · 25/12/2018 21:38

We really liked pretty much everything on CBeebies.

RaiderOfTheKitchenCupboard · 25/12/2018 22:33

We mostly watch CBeebies, 22 month old is obsessed with Catie’s Amazing Machines.

EdtheBear · 25/12/2018 23:30

In the Night garden i think its the squeaky voices that bugs me.
Peppa on the 2 or 3 times I watched it I felt Daddy pig did things that I just wouldn't want DS to copy.

LO is just turned 2, and rarely seems to get to watch anything thats just for him other than Something Special which I think is a timing thing, every time I put the telly on for him thats what's on

EatsFartsAndLeaves · 26/12/2018 00:08

BBC because of lack of adverts.

BigFishy · 26/12/2018 21:56

I like Lily's Driftwood Bay on itvbe

mogtheexcellent · 26/12/2018 21:58

Dd watches cbeebies only. I hate adverts.

I don't think she has missed out on anything special. We use iplayer when something is on she doesn't like.

Duggee is the shiz.
