Gammon in a slow cooker overnight? Anyone done this?

Recipe says soak in cold water for a few hours, then drain ALL liquid and cook on slow for seven hours? Thought I'd soak from now til midnight then cook from 12-7?

Don't want to ruin xmas dinner! Anyone done/doing this?

I haven’t but there’s loads of recipes online. Can’t see it would be a problem.

I'd like to avoid boiling the arse out of it and it being rubbery (has happened once or twice!) so this seems a safe option!

I have cooed a ham on low in a slow cooker over night before but I use the coke recipe. Finish off in a hot oven with golden syrup. Yum!

What time are you eating? I do ours 11-4pm, so put it on in the morning.

I didn’t think soaking was all that necessary any more? It’s to get rid of salt isn’t it?

Anyway, i’m doing the one Nigella posted on FB. Pour black treacle over, half an hour in a very hot oven, and then slow roast it for 12 hours.

I think it’ll be fine in a slow cooker, you can’t really go wrong.

What size is it because 7hrs feels like a lot unless it's a very gentle temperature?

Mine is in the slow cooker. Two hours on high then the lowest settting til morning.
