I need a breast reduction for my 40 GG breasts

My boobs were big and saggy before I had my baby, but he is now 11 months old and my breasts are huge and sagging so much. They hurt my back. They cost a fortune in bra's that don't even fit still. They prevent me from doing sport because they hurt when I do running for example, and wearing a sports bra doesn't even work. I've tried. They are ONE of the biggest reasons why I am so down. I want them gone. The things is I am breastfeeding and I don't think I can talk to a doctor yet about getting a breast reduction until I've finished breastfeeding. If you're thinking they'll be better after I stop, trust me, there's no going back for them. They are just too big and far gone. Do you think I could get a breast reduction on the nhs one day?

Just tell them you’re a trans man/non binary and need affirmation surgery

Stuckforthefourthtime · 24/12/2018 11:59

My cousin did - however it was a while back so rules could have changed, ans she did also have to lose weight first.
Why not make a GP appointment to discuss? Even if it isn't immediately available, they certainly won't laugh or make little of it.

AnguaResurgam · 24/12/2018 12:07

Yes, you'll have to wait until you have finished breastfeeding, and a doctor may well be interested in whether your family is complete (as further pregnancies/feedings could change your shape/size all over again)

And if you really are a 40 band (not an M&S add several inches size) then they will probably require you to lose weight first.

But this operation is rarely funded by NHS these days, so although it will be worth discussing it with your GP (and finding out more about the procedure) it might be more realistic for you to start saving up.

It's very difficult to get breast reduction on the NHS, including for trans people. What is your BMI? In most areas they won't even assess you until it is below 25 and you've maintained that weight for a year. If you lose weight you may find that your breasts are no longer big enough to qualify for reduction, albeit even more saggy. They go on mass, so you could be a large cup due to excess skin but that would not qualify.

Can you afford to go private?

Bombardier25966 · 24/12/2018 12:25

Hmmn, ok, you've also posted asking if the NHS will pay for you to have lipo on your intimate parts...

Ruddle91 · 24/12/2018 12:33

A 40 back size is usually women of clothes size 20 and above. In that case a GG really isn't that big on that frame but also you're very overweight and the NHS will do jack shit other than say "lose weight".

If you're actually a size 8-10 and wearing a 40GG to get your boobs in the cups then you're probably actually a 30K or more then yes the NHS may do something about it.

Google Boob or bust or try a fitting at Bravissimo. A good fitting bra makes big boobs way more manageable.

I wanted advice and opinions on both topics, so I made two separate threads otherwise to put both in a single thread would be way too much. I felt this was easiest. This is also a subject I want opinions on because it affects me physically and mentally. What is wrong with that?

Your expectations of the NHS are what is wrong. There are people waiting months and even years for vital surgery. Your cosmetic needs are not a priority.

When did you last have a bra fitting (not at M&S)? And what is your BMI?

Pringlemunchers · 24/12/2018 12:38

I agree with others. I think you are focusing on the wrong thing ( it is easy to do , when something is getting you down ). If you lost weight your boobs would definitely shrink. Could you start with that plan , get down to size 12 and see how you feel then. You might still want a lift , but that would something that you will need to fund yourself.

OlderThanAverageforMN · 24/12/2018 12:38

No, you probably don't. I am a 32HH and am fine, my 15 year old DD is a 30GG, and she is fine. We are both big busted, obviously, but buy Bravissimo bra's which are well fitted and have good support. I suspect your main problem is your weight, try losing that first.

randomsabreuse · 24/12/2018 12:40

If 40GG doesn't fit you're in the wrong size. Measure around your ribcage just below your boobs - I doubt that's a 40.

ChodeofChodeHall · 24/12/2018 12:40

40 inches around is quite big. I suppose you have tried losing the weight first? That's the first thing the GP will ask you.

BloodyWorried · 24/12/2018 12:49

Sports bra wise what have you tried? The Shock Absorber multi sport is THE best sports bra. They’re a snug fit but it needs to fit properly: I’ve found that actually I could get away with a band adjuster for a few weeks so bought a size down and wore it with that when I first started to lose weight so save money buying so often. You will lose cup and band size - but only with diet and exercise. I’m three stone lighter this Christmas than last - no boast, but it’s hard work and it can be done.

Racecardriver · 24/12/2018 12:54

Definitely wait until you stop breastfeeding. They will shrink back a bit. Also loose weight/get a bra that fits.
