It’s interesting that we can remember the words to these so well many years on!

@PinkAvocado I've got an eidetic memory so I remember all sorts of nonsense like this. I can also do kids TV theme tunes from 80s/90s and as jingles. Imagine if I actually put it to proper use?Grin

When a knight won his spurs in the stories of old, he was gentle and brave he was gallant and bold

cheesenpickles · 23/12/2018 23:27

*ad

Reallybadidea · 23/12/2018 23:28

It was definitely 'fish into the sea' in the version we sang.

Livedandlearned2 · 23/12/2018 23:29

Actually it is I am the Lord of the dance settee

cheesenpickles · 23/12/2018 23:30

@Reallybadidea talking about versions from different schools, we didn't do the claps during Shine Jesus Shine. We had some very odd looks at inter school events. Grin

TheRealJoseph · 23/12/2018 23:32

Sir Issac Newton put the colours in the rainbow, after all he did mess around with prisms. Wink

Idontmeanto · 23/12/2018 23:37

My old school song was set to the tune of “when a knight won his spurs.” Thaaaannk- you Lord for.... was one of my favourites.

BackforGood · 23/12/2018 23:40

There was one about trumpets blowing and Jericho, but I can't remember it! We all sang it really loudly.

Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, Jericho, Jericho
Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, and the walls came tumbling down.

@cheesenpickles No claps ??? Shock

Reallybadidea · 23/12/2018 23:42

@cheesenpickles

Neither did we! Random fact - I was at university with the nephew of Graham Kendrick who wrote SJS.

We also used to sing 'Come on and Celebrate' at school and some of us would change it to 'Come on and masturbate' Grin

riotlady · 23/12/2018 23:42

It was “salt into the sea” in our version

Also as a primary schooler found “I was cold, I was naked, were you there, were you there?” hilarious

Witchofzog · 23/12/2018 23:49

Autumn days when the grass is jewelled
And the silk inside a chestnut tree
Jet planes meeting in the air to be re fueled
All these things I love so well

So I mustn't forget
No I must forget
To say a great big thank you
I musn't forget

30birthdayholiday · 23/12/2018 23:50

I'm in the Lords Army, YES SIR!!

30birthdayholiday · 23/12/2018 23:51

There was also one about Indiana Jones!?

Witchofzog · 23/12/2018 23:51

Haha we did the "I was cold I was naked were you there? " song too. What was this? So bizarre 😂

AtSea1979 · 23/12/2018 23:53

Indiana Jones? Waits patiently for enlightenment.

The was something about if I was a woolly mammoth I’d thank you lord for my fuzzy wuzzy hair. If I was a butterfly I’d thank you lord for ..something

JeezYouLoon · 23/12/2018 23:54

Gosh! Blast from the past, I can't remember my DS's names half the time but these have come flooding back.

They don't make them like that any more...keep me travelling along with you Grin

AtSea1979 · 23/12/2018 23:58

I remember the blue books with all the faces on the front.

We used to sing come by ah my lord. And say come by hand instead.

ladybirdsaredotty · 23/12/2018 23:59

I went to a C of E school and was in the choir, this is such a trip down memory lane!

We sang 'fishes' not 'salt,' I think.

Shine Jesus Shine was my absolute favourite...but I don't remember any claps either!

FissionChips · 23/12/2018 23:59

Kumbayah my Lord ..

My dad still has the Come and Praise music book from when he used to play in Church. Every so often I make him get it out so I can reminisce.

I always loved "If I were a butterfly "

PickleFish · 24/12/2018 00:03

Cross over the road, my friend

Or maybe the title is Will you cross over to the other side?

There was a harmony line to it but I haven't seen/heard it lately on any of the YouTube videos, though I know there's at least one out there.

RomanyRoots · 24/12/2018 00:07

I can remember singing Susie little susie there's a rustling of straw.
The music comes from Hansel and Gretel.

My ds sang a lovely one called "michaelmas Daisies, purple in the border"

Another ds sang "I'm a little Christmas tree, everybody looks at me"
