DD isn't too bad but is only 3. DS however is 6 and is bursting at the seams. He has been like a duracell bunny since he woke up. Running around the house, screeching for no reason and winding up his sister.
He is never like this unless excited so I known his behaviour is because of xmas and am trying to give leeway but bloody hell he is driving me mad!!
We are doing breakfast with Santa at soft play tomorrow which will be a great outlet for all this energy.
In the meantime, anyone for some wine? Wine

Yes! I've just put mine in the bath and will try and trick them in to an early night. I have no idea what to do with them tomorrow whilst dh's at work.

hidinginthenightgarden · 23/12/2018 18:22

Take them somewhere they can run around!

Yeah, I have a 5.6 DD and 4.5 DS. They're hideous right now, to be honest. I just want it over with, quite frankly! Xmas Grin

DD isn't. 17 and cynical. Me on the other hand....

imnottoofussed · 23/12/2018 18:26

Dd18 keeps asking me when she can open a present Grin she is slightly distraught that my dmum is working on Xmas day and won't be home until approx 3pm, so we are waiting until then to do the proper present opening. So I've told her she can open one when she wakes up on Xmas morning

NoWordForFluffy · 23/12/2018 18:26

It was too wet to get out today really, so we will go out in the morning so they can burn off energy before we head to church in the afternoon for the crib service. I don't want them to go to bed too early tomorrow night though as I'd like them to sleep until at least 7 if possible!

MorningsEleven · 23/12/2018 18:35

My 8 year old needs horse tranquilisers today. Tomorrow, I'll need them to cope with his enthusiasm.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 23/12/2018 18:37

my 8yo has had episodes of foulness today, which generally means excitedness or tiredness or both. Tomorrow I plan to beast them round the park in the morning, and on Just Dance in the afternoon, in order to try to secure a post 6AM wake up.

Ahardmanisgoodtofind · 23/12/2018 18:43

Mine (3 and 8), ds8 is currently skipping round the room cackling maniacally, DD is in bed already. They've driven me insane, I have so much to get done and no energy to do it now.
I was gutted I have to work tomorrow but now I'm secretly pleased.

WeCameToDance · 23/12/2018 18:48

All I can say is im about to be driven mad. Completely mad. Mad from inside the sofa fortress ds has built me that im not allowed to leave. He has talked non stop for the last 3 hours about toys, pausing for a miniscule secomd to take a breath and starting again. I am counting down the minutes until dh comes home.

hidinginthenightgarden · 23/12/2018 18:57

Glad I am not alone. DH has gone to the pub for what was meant to be an hour. An hour and a half later he isn't back. We are supposed to be going for a drink together in an hour so he better not be drunk! ( had a beer before he left too).
I have calmed the kids down. I think they have exhausted themselves out!

Yep, 4YO DD is practically on the ceiling. We've been to soft play to try and use up some energy but she's still wired and winding everyone up. Long walk/bike ride planned with her tomorrow as the weather is hopefully better.

Bring on the gin Gin

bridgetosomewhere · 23/12/2018 19:20

We all have coughs/colds/ear infections so I can't take them anywhere public like soft play and I'm not sure about taking them out in the cold either?

Have to find something to do tomorrow to run off steam as we had a really lazy today today while I was dying on the sofa!

Otherwise tomorrow will be a reeeeeally long day...

PerpendicularVincent · 23/12/2018 19:46

DH has just taken DS for a walk to burn off some energy. It hasn't worked.

Today he's alternated between shouting, having tantrums and talking about presents. I may crack open the prosecco when he's finally asleep.

MissWilmottsGhost · 23/12/2018 19:51

DD (7) got so excited this morning that she swung round and walloped me right in the face. Now I have a bruise.

She is apologetic but still loopy.

Roll on Christmas day

DelurkingAJ · 23/12/2018 20:01

I have found my people. I lost the plot this afternoon at manic behaviour at the post crib service tea and biscuits. I’d taken DS1 (6) swimming this morning to try to calm him but no. He was roaring around and winding up DS2 (2) something chronic. Everyone else’s DC were being charming, making mine look even more feral than they actually were. Sigh!
