And there’s no good reason for it.

Why are you awake?

Had 10 hours of sleep last night, so I'm paying for it today. Insomnia, yay.

icklekid · 23/12/2018 05:33

Was wide awake 3am unusually for me I got back to sleep but since 5 kids up twice so that's me stuffed 😴

expatinspain · 23/12/2018 05:35

I'm awake because I'm travelling back to England for Xmas. I'm excited like a kid Xmas Grin

bridgetosomewhere · 23/12/2018 05:38

I've had four hours sleep - I'm so choked up I can hardly breathe and keep gasping when I have to swallow!
Thankfully am organised for Xmas already so can chill a bit the next two days and hope to feel better for Tuesday!

Although I need to do all my housework before people arrive and I haven't baked yet....might just get stuff from Asda instead!

I've been awake for a few hours; delightful jetlag/insomnia combo. I am going to get up and make a coffee I think. My anxiety is through the roof as we are at my parents and they like to leave absolutely everything until the very last minute then have a blazing row (often alcohol-fueled). I am trying to stay calm and I'm looking forward to a nice, quiet Sunday at home with my children while my parents are out for most of the day. Every year I swear I won't do this but my children love being here...

Spudlet · 23/12/2018 06:00

We're going away today for Christmas and I'm feeling anxious about it. Packing the car, the long journey, DS, ddog, DH being a grump and going on about how we have to just get through it (we're going to my family's for the first time in four years and he's not a big fan). Trying to balance everyone's needs and expectations for a week and manage an unruly preschooler and slightly demented and deaf spaniel in a house not fully set up for either... fun times.

I'll be fine once we hit the road and will remember the positives. Sigh.

HalfBloodPrincess · 23/12/2018 06:00

Been up since about 4.20.

18 month old ds thought it would be funny to spit his water all over himself and my bed, then even more hilarious to refuse to go back to sleep Angry

blackcat86 · 23/12/2018 06:02

I've been awake since 4am when the baby's motion mat alarm went off. She was fine, she'd just wiggled sideways. I didn't get back to sleep and then she was up at 5:15am having done a horrendously dirty nappy. She's now having a great time playing on the play mat while mummy has a strong coffee...

gladheart · 23/12/2018 06:03

Been up since 5 as I'm travelling today (in about 30 mins) and want to beat the traffic...

TopBitchoftheWitches · 23/12/2018 06:03

I woke at 5.30 this morning which is better than it's been all week. I feel asleep watching Netflix in bed about 8-8.30pm so I have actually had a good amount of sleep.

I'm working today in a local Sainsbury's, I'm hoping I can get in early before the crowds start to arrive.

Soontobe60 · 23/12/2018 06:07

Been awake since 5 thinking about stuff. I'm a teacher and we have some struggling families at school so worry endlessly about the children. And how they'll manage when not in school. I just know it'll play on my mind for the next 2 weeks. 😫

FestiveNut · 23/12/2018 06:16

Baby woke me at four. She's now snoring away next to me. I can't get back to sleep.

FestiveNut · 23/12/2018 06:19

They'll be fine @soontobe60. Gotta get those emotional walls up, or it'll eat you alive eventually.

It might be tough for some but I don't think we're yet at the stage of children starving in the streets. Flowers

icklekid · 23/12/2018 06:28

@soontobe60 I know what you mean. Had a serious safeguarding issue come to me final day at midday. I can't help but worry about the family these next 2 weeks. Sometimes things can be worse than starving sadly. The lack of structure and support can make life hard for families. I'm there with you feeling useless

SageYourResoluteOracle · 23/12/2018 06:31

Awake since just after 5- didn't get to sleep until 1. DH has a really dry cough on top of a persistent cough (he's under the care of a chest consultant following pneumonia and sepsis THREE TIMES last year) and whilst I think he's okay, every time he coughs, the bed lunges and lurches. I'm in the process of being diagnosed with whatever's wrong with me... strong possibility it's MS and symptoms always feel worse at night. Tinnitus is persistent, I'm constipated, feel like I need to pee constantly and i keep getting pins and needles in my hands & feet... bit fed up.
At my parent's house so don't want to get up and end of waking everyone else! DH now sound asleep. Sigh. But (channels Will Ferrel in Elf) it's Christmas!!!! Xmas Grin

RedCrab · 23/12/2018 06:37

I started a thread but should have just joined this one instead!

18 month (she’s known as the baby still) old woke at 4.30 coughing. She fell back asleep briefly after a feed. Then three year old woke up coughing and then the dreaded words “I feel sick.”

Then the baby woke up again. I have spectacularly failed to get any of us back to sleep so now we’re watching Balto.

FestiveNut · 23/12/2018 06:38

I dunno, @icklekid, starving looks like a a fairly painful and drawn-out way to go. I doubt there's much worse. Burning to death maybe.

In all seriousness, you've got to stop taking it home with you. There's nothing you can do and being upset doesn't serve them at all. Try and believe that it will be fine and you will see them in the new year. And push it out of your mind. I know it's hard, believe me. But it does no good to let it keep you up at silly o'clock.
