Fuuuck - just bought ds's main gift and it's flat pack, 2 person job and I'm alone

It's a desk and chair for his room and I know he'll love it. I've gone for one with drawers etc which I really shouldn't have. Nearly couldn't get it in the car, broke my nail painfully doing so, had to get it from car to house in pieces as it's so heavy.. and now I have to put it up.

First thing I see is it's a 2 person job. I have no one to ask, and nothing else is wrapped either. House is a shit tip and tomorrow boys will be back from dad's first thing.

Can I do it? Broke up from work yesterday utterly shattered... I really should have thought this through.

Inspiration anyone?

Well, I stopped just after 9 and it is recognisably a desk and will function as one so that's good! The door to the cupboard looks impossible to fit and I feel like it should have been put on earlier in the process but I was following the instructions in order Hmm.

Anyway, I still have the chair to do (it's big and leathery and ds will love it) and all the other presents to wrap so will probably leave it as it is for the big day and then get it finished over the holiday.

Thanks for the support everyone !

I did an ikea wardrobe by myself. It's doable!

This happened to me too and I stupidly thought I’d get it out together in the one hour i has child free. It took me 6 hours, blisters, bruises and broken nails later it was still only nearly finished.

Well done for trying. Hope he appreciates it!
