Sore belly button!

My belly button is slightly stinging. What’s wrong with it?! I mean the inside bit which is hard to clean and dry although i’ve just done so with a cotton bud.
Just curious to know if this has happened to anyone else and if so, why and how did you help it clear up Grin
Bit of a weird question I know.

It's probably due to the last time you had a bath/shower and it didn't dry. Put some talc in it and make sure you dry every time you get it wet.

SantasBassoon · 22/12/2018 08:35

They can get sore easily. Try a dab of Sudocrem.

CakeNinja · 22/12/2018 08:38

Hmm. I’m not sure I have talc or sudocreme anymore but I’ll have a little rummage...

Had some sudocreme in the bathroom cupboard (god knows how long that’s been there, my youngest child is 7... )and whacked a bit in.
Hold on to the edge of your seats guys, I’ll update you later Grin

More likely a fungal infection from not drying properly, especially if itchy. Try to get a little antifungal cream like canesten (clotrimazole) in there and repeat for several days according to instructions. You might already have some as either a thrush or athletes foot treatment, or ask at pharmacy, they should be able to help.

I occasionally get a smelly/sore belly button, it is very deep and obviously doesn't dry as easily. Must be infections.

I get a cotton bud, dip it in TCP, and give it a wiggle about. Seems to fix it

Puddelchen · 22/12/2018 10:22

I cured the same problem with drops of tea tree oil.

It’s like athletes foot but in the belly button, warm damp conditions allowing a fungal infection; athletes foot or thrush cream are the most effective for killing the fungal overgrowth

CakeNinja · 22/12/2018 11:13

Mmm nice, a fungal bellybutton 😂
Does seem to make sense though. I haven’t got any of those potions or lotions but there’s a pharmacy nearby so I’ll wander up there in a bit and see what they can sell me.
Thank you, good to know it’s happened to someone else, it was a bit of a disturbing discovery this morning. I can’t say I’ve ever taken particular care to dry my bellybutton before so it’s weird that it’s just happened all of a sudden.

Same happened to me-it was thrush. Canesten cleared it up.

Oh, this reminds me of after having DS3. My stomach was like an elephants arsehole, a shrivelled mess. You couldn’t even see my bellybutton ( I had massive 10/11lb babies so huge bumps) and I’d forgotten it existed...until the smell hit me.
I had a seeping cesspit for a bellybutton. It.Was.Gross.
Anyway, showered it out well and chucked some canesten in and all was right again a few days later.

CakeNinja · 22/12/2018 11:23

Oh Eleanor Shock
Gross! Poor you. But good to know the canesten will shift it. I don’t want a stinky bellybutton over christmas.
