When your DD stands up for the bully, who is being bullied, and ends up being labelled the bully.

Tweenage drama. Girls all catch the bus home from school.

I get a knock on the door this evening to be told that another girl (well known as a bully) has punched a girl that I thought DD was mates with. Apparently she has a black eye and the police will be called. (Incidentally, the live video she posted this evening, whilst wearing a vest top and pants, shows no evidence of any facial injury.) DD has been reported as part of the assault and labelled a bully. And they have witnesses.

DD states (and identical story backed up by trawling through her messages and calling a few other mums) that she fell out with mate yesterday so was sitting on her own on the bus. Ex mate started swearing at bully girl and saying she sleeps around etc etc. DD stands up for bully girl, asking her why she is being so nasty and saying such things. Bully girl slaps ex mate and both leave the bus. DD remains on the bus for longer. (Apparently a further punch was given in the street and ex mate has a black eye.)

DD didn't actually do anything except repeat the words that ex mate was saying ie "why are you calling her a slag" etc. Ex mates mum is saying she is a bully and they have reported her and to expect the police.

I'm pretty sure I believe DD but I don't know whether to be pleased she has tried to look out for someone, sad she seems to be friends with the bully girl, worried about the police calling...

I can't really talk about this IRL given the circumstances and I just feel a bit sad and wanted to see what others would think or do.
