I went to ds2’s church service this morning for the first time in years (usually I’m at work) and although he’s year 5 and pretends he couldn’t care less he had a big grin on his face when he saw me.

Then I was invited for amaretto coffee with some of the school mums, which may not seem like a big deal, but again I’m usually at work so don’t do that sort of thing.

Bought a few last minute bits from a local shop with a really lovely owner and had a good chat to her, then managed to collect a parcel from Argos without a fight.

This afternoon my Dbro and SIL turned up to drop off presents and had an impromptu G&T with them to celebrate the fact that they are about to become grandparents.

Fish and chips for tea and now I’m in my PJs playing Gran Turismo with dh and the dcs.

This has been a perfect day! Feeling very warm and fuzzy and Christmassy after the longest and shittiest term at work ever.

Share your tales of simple pleasures and Christmas joy here Xmas Smile

Apologies for all the typos and grammatical errors on my post! I was typing with one hand as DS was holding the other through the cot bars whilst he fell asleep.

Some lovely days here.

Congrats on becoming a great aunt @BadHairDyeDay! Boy/girl? I hope mum and baby are doing well. A Christmas to remember for them!

Thank you for the kind wishes! I have a Beautiful little great niece called Phoebe - everyone well thank you. I also turned the big five oh last week so I'm feeling a wee bit old too😜

Love these. Congratulations to everyone with good and happy news or things to celebrate.
I worked this morning, finished off things, came back and managed a short nap before the DCs came back from school. They’ve been uncharacteristically lovely - now they are all teens or pre-teens there’s usually at least one in a grump but we decorated a gingerbread house, made pasta with the new pasta machine, then watched Home Alone and did a jigsaw. No one got cross or flounced or had a strop. All in all a good way to start the holiday and after a miserable few months it was what I needed

After nearly a week of sickness bug, toddler was back to her happy self and we did a nice Christmas train/Santa trip. And after being super clingy to me all week she had a nice afternoon playing with DH while I was finally able to crack on with some food prep for next week. I’ve been on a major healthy eating thing since May but had a mince pie earlier and opened the Quality St tonight and feel like it’s actually Christmas now!

Lovely thread OP. Yesterday was amazing for me too. Last day st school and the traditional whole school church service (in a stunning cathedral) where fantastic S6 pupils delivered the readings, I have worked with those almost adults since their primary transition and was so moved. School choir singing beautifully. A thank you gift from a parent (never happens when you're a secondary teacher) with a note. Glass of fizz with colleagues in the pub across from the cathedral then the train to Edinburgh for Christmas Markets with DH and DDs 3 and 4. Mulled wine and the lovely festive atmosphere contributed to my warm and fuzzy feeling.
