Am also v sad. I did actually like the Simon and jo thing, although much preferred each separately. A huge loss to r2, unlike the self promoting, smug Chris Evans who I am delighted is off. If r2 are in the mood for a shake up, why they won't get rid of Ken unfunny Bruce or Steve shit wright I don't know.

I’m not with you on Shaun Keaveney tbh. As far as I’m concerned he’s Phil Jupitus’s disappointing and depressing holiday stand-in and I can’t wait for Lauren to start.

@hen2018 I used to work in a tiny little bank branch, and were allowed to have the radio on; radio 1 in those days. Every day at (I think) 10am, we’d get a little rush of customers, and have to turn up the volume so everyone could listen to Our Tune. Happy days (in a sometimes sad way.)

Also very sad. It very much appears that they pushed him out because he is a white, middle aged man yes. Which seems incredibly unfair as he is a great host with an awesome team. Like many though, I had barely listened since they fucked him over by adding Jo, so it wasn’t a big wrench. I think a lot of listeners said goodbye ages ago. Hope the BBC read threads like this.

I think he was happy to leave Radio 2 as he had been doing the same thing over and over again for years and not pushed out at all. He wants to pursue his writing career. He is nearly 60, if not 60 already.

The hatred for Jo Whiley on social media and indeed on Mumsnet was awful to witness. Their show together certainly warmed up and was absolutely fine to listen to recently.

The hideous, unbearable All Request Friday really does need to be put in a metal dustbin and set on fire now.

I don’t mind Jo Whiley. I do mind her being brought into a slot she was not suited to seemingly only because she is a woman. The show may have warmed up but was still hideously awkward and a long way from ‘absolutely fine’. I also want a lot more than ‘absolutely fine’ from a drive time slot.

Elledouble Shaun at least gets the afternoon slot, so that's something. Rarely get to listen on weekend mornings, except in the shower. I made a point of sitting with my knitting for the last hour of radmac, this afternoon, though and it made my Christmas to hear Mark back in the studio.

I am going to miss Shaun Keavney on 6 music breakfast so much. I like Lauren Laverne but not sure about her doing breakfast. She isn't starting until 7.30 either! That means 30 mins of Chris Hawkins when i get up ☹ Glad to hear that Mark was in the studio today.

Thank you. I always miss it in the school holidays so not heard it this week. I know I’m in the minority on this thread but I’ll miss it hugely and will probably move with him for the breakfast show and then back to 2 for other times. I will make sure I tune in on Monday.

Gutted about Simon Mayo going. Whilst I didn’t like him and Jo to start with after tge pressure came off (when he announced his departure) they both relaxed into it and it became a good show.

So sad about RadMac probably my favourite two broadcasters having listened to Mark Radcliffe since the totally amazing Graveyard Shift.

Will miss Chris Evans too - I find him jolly and sincere. Not looking forward to Zoe Ball.

Can’t stand the ads on commercial radio sigh ...
