I’m in constant pain!

Hoping someone can help me as I think my relationship will be well and truly over if I don’t find something to help me!

For about 5 years I have been in pain, it started as severe back pain and sciatica and was infrequent but agonising but now I get it everywhere, my arms, neck, even my feet, the past few months I am in pain somewhere constantly.

I am also exhausted, the tiredness comes on suddenly and I can barely speak I feel like I’m going to fall straight to sleep!

I’ve been having bowel issues, going from constipation to Diarrhea and no in between.

I catch everything going, ear infections, sickness bugs, colds.. even my kids don’t get this many!

Drs have just been sending me to physio, they’ve been no help at all really.

They’ve given me blood tests and all they’ve tested for come back normal. It’s causing serious issues in my relationship as DH is starting to think I’m using it as an excuse to be lazy, I wish that was true.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what it might be so I can suggest it to my dr to test for it? So far tested for diabetes, thyroid and vitamin deficiencies.. maybe more but not sure.

I’ve also gained weight in that time although am not overweight.

I feel so desperate, I was supposed to take the kids to see Santa today and just haven’t been able to get out of bed I’m in agony.

Thanks so much if you’ve taken the time to read this.

Maybe ask for a referral to the pain clinic. You could try the FODMAP diet for your IBS symptoms.

hotstepper4 · 21/12/2018 17:00

Sounds exactly like fibromyalgia.

NameChanger22 · 21/12/2018 17:07

Sciatica is the worst pain, I've had it for 3 months and I'm just getting better now. I didn't know it could move around the body. I don't know what you have. I do know that I tried a variety of painkillers and none of them worked. In the end I took Co-codamol which is very strong and did work. It seemed to break the cycle of pain I was in and allowed me to sleep and start to get better. Severe pain is as much psychological as it is physical. I hope you get some breaks in the pain and a diagnosis soon. Severe pain is hell. You have my sympathies.

I was thinking fibromyalgia too.

Look up curable.com. It has been my life saver. Definitely worth signing up to.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 21/12/2018 17:41

What's your GP said about your pain? Sounds utterly unbearable.

OnMyWhistle · 21/12/2018 17:44

Fibromyalgia is my guess too. I have been reading up on it this afternoon and this sounds exactly like it. Look at the fibro page on the NHS website.

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 21/12/2018 17:53

I read this and instantly also thought fibromyalgia. A friend of mine has it and the symptoms you describe sound the same.

CatToddlerUprising · 21/12/2018 17:54

Have you seen a Rheumatologist?

MistyReturns · 21/12/2018 18:16

I have fibromyalgia and those symptoms sound like mine were. Get a referral from your gp to a rheumatologist.

Have you had a specific test for vitamin d? It's not commonly tested for, but deficiencies in vitamin d seem to go hand in hand with fibromyalgia.

StandardPoodle · 21/12/2018 18:27

A friend of mine who was diagnosed with fibromyalgia had many of your symptoms.

SweetRuby · 21/12/2018 18:38

Definitely sounds like fibromyalgia. There is no blood test but diagnosis is based on a list of symptoms and 18 tender points.

FenellasRedVelvetDress · 21/12/2018 18:42

Whatever it is I send you a big hug.
I too am in constant pain- I survive on a combination of morphine and will power.
But some days I can barely move for pain.
I’m just about to collect my husband and then I will be going straight to bed as it’s the only place I can lie totally still and get a modicum of relief. It’s debilitating, depressing and soul destroying. When you live like this it’s terrible. Hound your GP for more tests.

constantpain · 21/12/2018 18:46

Thanks so much everyone, just looked up fibromyalgia and I seem to have every symptom of it! Including it starting after a traumatic time. I cried tears of relief reading it as I feel like it’s not all in my head!
Will speak to the GP, it says theirs no cure which is worrying though...
Thanks again and will also ask about vitamin D.

Op do you know what your thyroid test results were? Even if you were told they were normal, if they were borderline you may need to be monitored. Some people get joint pain with thyroid disease. Have a read here: healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk
