So I'm panicking that I'll run out of something over Xmas! What were your chicken pox essentials??

Dd is 5 and has chicken pox for the second time 😩 but my mind has gone blank. I ordered poxyclin from amazon prime last time but don't think it will be an option this time of year.

Virasoothe, kept in the fridge was a godsend plus an antihistamine
And paracetamol, not ibuprofen, if required

I hope she’s ok Flowers

Oats for oaty baths.

Generous handful of porridge oats, tied up in a muslin/footsie sock thing/anything that will work like a sieve and stop them clogging the drain.

Run tepid bath, swish oats round a lot, add child. I had to practically drag DD out, she loved it.

Bicarb of soda is also a good bath additive for soothing the spots.

Calamine cream (not lotion)

JudgeRulesNutterButter · 20/12/2018 23:36

Oh and if you have / can make some ice lollies, that helps keep them hydrated if they get spots in their mouth/throat and don’t want to drink.

My DD is covered in scabs and I am waiting for my DS to come down with it so I share your pain!

Plenty of Calamine lotion-used a new cheap makeup brush to apply it, was very easy, painting a child!

Piriton
Oats for bath
Ice lolly/ice pols
Cold refreshing fruit eg grapes/watermelon.
Calpol

Brilliant thankyou so much!!

She's soo cranky. She had it when she was 3 but only mildly, maybe 4 spots in total.

Fingers crossed everyone's kids are spot free soon

When my DS had chickenpox over Christmas he would only settle if an adult was singing Away in a manger! So me DH and DMIL sang in shifts throughout the night.
So I would stock up on throat sweets for adults too!
Sorry, I know it's not funny, but brought back memories of a stressful Christmas. Hope it is a mild case.

A cool new bath toy or two.

My 3 had several baths a day, the oaty baths, calpol and piriton were the only things that worked.
