Burnt jumper help!

Hi, I couldn't find the topic to match this so have put it in here.

I recently got a lovely white 100% cotton knitted jumper and took care to hand wash it as instructed.
I then put it on my radiator to dry and woke up to a light yellow scorch mark across the front of the jumper!

I really want to salvage it and have popped it to soak in some cold water.
Does anyone know how I can remove this? I know the little shiny patches are unsalvageable as the material is burnt but even just to get most of it off/ fade the yellowing?

Weak milton solution dabbed on then hang to dry in a sunny window. Be prepared that it might not be recoverable.

@MaidenMotherCrone I would normally but it's a really nice jumper that I could never afford (I can't really afford any jumper rn) and I would just love to fix it.

Thanks @FlibbertyGiblets, do you think soaking in cold water is a bad idea? I've had to come to work and DP is in a bit of a state after yesterday's Christmas Do. Is time of an essence?

If its a burn/scorch mark you won't be able to treat it with anything to remove it. I'd dye it a dark colour to try and hide it.

I think that will be the next step after I try a couple of things, yes.

Which is sad because it was very nice in cream
