Can I defrost chicken which is now out of date?

I bought some fillets which would have gone out of date on the 6th Dec but I put them in the freezer on the 5th. Can I take them out and defrost them? If so, if I wanted to eat them on Xmas day (DS and I don't want roast beef so will have stuffed fillets) when would I take them out?

I've always wondered this about any meat and usually end up binning things which have gone well out of date in the freezer but it's such a waste.

Yes of course, as long as you froze them before their best before date then they will be fine in the freezer for 6 months

Of course! I think it’s about 1.5 to 2 months after use by when it’s frozen

Yes the idea of freezing things is to prolong them. I usually go for things like chicken up until a month in the freezer. To eat on Christmas Day id defrost on Christmas Eve.

If you froze them when they had one day left before they went out of date, then when you unfreeze them you have one day before they are ‘out of date’. Freezing just stops the clock, and unfreezing starts it again from where it left off.
If you want to have them on Christmas Day, put them in the fridge to defrost on Christmas Eve :)

They'll be fine in the freezer for at least six months. Even after that they'll be safe to eat but the texture might not be quite the same.

Defrost them overnight in the fridge on Xmas eve for cooking on Xmas day.

They'll be fine. I'd probably take them out Xmas Eve day and stick them in the fridge overnight to defrost. Not a great amount of bulk to defrost.

Yes. You froze in-date stuff. It is fine.

Great thanks, seems a stupid question to ask but I'd rather ask it than get food poisoning for Xmas!
