Will anybody else not get any Christmas presents?

My parents have said that they know I'm skint, so we won't bother exchanging presents this year. DDs too little. DDs dad's horrid and abusive. My friends aren't exchanging gifts afaik. Which I'm happy about tbh because I am really broke, and need to spend any spare money I have on DD. It's my birthday in a few weeks as well and highly doubt I'll receive anything. Not that I expect it. But might hint to DDs nursery teachers that I'd love a card!

I just keep seeing posts about boots 3 for 2 bath sets and stuff, and people being annoyed about getting them. And I just think, god that would make my day! anybody else presentless this year?

P.S disclaimer, I know - first world problems. I have bigger things to worry about. Have had to borrow some money to make rent this month due to no maintenance and new job wage problems. Feel very lucky I had already got my little DD everything on her list (she's only 3, so had asked Santa for a bath bomb, Lego, chocolate coins and a toy mouse )

I bought my own present back in June.

Well it’s one way to guarantee a present! I don’t actually know what’s in it so it’ll be a nice surprise.

OP, I hope you get some surprise presents! At least for your birthday if not Christmas.

Good point about spare change jars - time to cash mine in, too.

I fancy buying myself some charity shop books, too, and a dvd.

I'm just thinking of how pleased your dd will be to see you having a lovely surprise from Father Christmas.

I was not expecting to receive anything. But someone one I work with gave me something today it’s wraped up and will a big surprise.

Why won't your DPs be getting you a gift for Xmas!! that's sad. Are they too skint.

I don't expect mine to get me gifts but i would always buy them for my DC regardless of whether they bought for me.

I haven't had any presents for years. Family decided to buy for the kids only. As I don't have a partner and DD was too young to buy me anything I just got nothing

You get used to it... I've bought myself a few things over the years but really can't be bothered to wrap my own presents.

I must admit, when I see the threads about what people want/ expect for Christmas I'm half jealous and half incredulous.

OP doing yourself a small stocking is a great idea and will deinfitely add to the magic for your DD. You sound like an absolutely fantastic mum and, without wishing to sound corny, you and your DD have each other and I’m sure you’ll have a fab Christmas together. She’s lucky to have you
