Going into a fried-fish shop and asking for "Chish and Phips".

Not funny - just annoying: Words I frequently need to say are 'mice and rats'. Unfortunately this is the only time when I'm afflicted by spoonerisms and I keep saying 'rice and mats' instead. It's become such a stumbling block for me now that I hesitate every time I have to say it. I should probably use 'vermin' instead, but I hate that perjorative word so much I can't bring myself to use it.

My favourite one was when my older brother said many years ago when he came home the worse for drink one night. My DM said to him accusingly, 'You're drunk!'. His response was 'No I'm not, look I can walk in a perfectly straight line. If I was drunk I'd be swaggering and staying'. Grin

A seasonal one. One year (I must have been about 12) we'd gone to spend Christmas with one of my aunts, who had also invited a couple of other friends to stay. They, but not us, went out to midnight mass on Christmas Eve. I was still up when they got home - clearly they hadn't just been to midnight mass, but must have had some 'refreshments' somewhere along the way - because one of my aunt's friends sort-of fell through the front door giggling that they'd been to madnight miss Xmas Grin

A family favourite is “milk tottlebops” and I came this close to saying “smairly fart” once - in the middle of Paddington station too - my mum and I were in hysterics.
