Tipping hairdresser at Christmas

I have never ever tipped, partly because it's so expensive be anyway and partly because I'm not certain of the etiquette e..g. give it to them or to the receptionist and so on.
I'm having colour and cut with 2 people today. Total will be about 120. Colour more expensive than cut. How much should I tip each person?

At Christmas, I tip each person £10 so, £30 in total. I also take a big box of chocolates. I get great service all year round and always tip them a fiver each.

I always tip at the hairdresser, usually £20. I give it either to the one of the owners (who also cuts my hair) or to the guy on reception and ask for it to be put in the tips jar. That was they can split it between everyone who looked after me or sometimes they just use it for the whole team when they go out for drinks after work on a Sat.

Thanks both

Most hairdressers get a wage and tips are greatly appreciated!

They have literally reduced me to tears before.

Not because of a huge sum. But we have some regulars we get to know over the years and the thoughtfulness that’s gone into little gifts or just a thank you for listening to me has made me feel appreciated

I've recently been tipping a £5 on every service but she is literally amazing she only charges £40 (really!) For full colour (including some creative colouring if I want it) cut blow dry and curling on top of that she is so friendly and nice to be around. She tries to refuse the bit extra but i insist I had to go somewhere else once and it was over £80!

I'm not nearly as generous, unfortunately. I give what I can afford. Which is usually £2 or £3 for the hairdresser and a £2 for girl who washes. --- not just as xmas, every time I go year round.
I take a box of biscuits at Christmas time.
