22 month old wakeful ALL night! Help!

My nearly 2 year old daughter has never really gone through long periods of sleeping straight through - but I would still say she has been a generally good sleeper. Goes to sleep by herself at bedtime, and maybe only waking once in the early hours for a quick re-settle.

The last few weeks though, it's honestly been like having a small baby again!😩

She still goes to bed ok (ish), but is then stirring and waking several times, anywhere from about 10pm. We usually end up bringing her into our bed on the 3rd or 4th waking, because we are so tired, but that is also a pain in the arse, as she continues to stir and disturb us.

She then only seems to settle into a deep sleep for the last part of the night.

Any ideas what this might be?

Factors we are considering:
-she is pretty dependent on her dummy

  • we probably shouldn't have got into the habit of bringing her in with us
  • she seems to be going through a period of change with her daytime sleeps too.

Any advice welcome!

Lea in brain development. Read about 2 year sleep regressions. My DD is doing the same and it's really hard!
Even cutting her day sleeps to just 1 hour doesnt help. Don't let her lie in is the best tip.

Thank you bumbleaya- hoping it will settle by itself soon then! I am considering putting her into a single bed now (she's in a cot at the moment). Have you made the transition yet?

No she co sleeps which I do think gives us the maximum amount of sleep but her neutrons are firing so powerfully at the moment every day she wakes up saying a new sentence of words that I didn't know she could say, I think sometimes they're just so hyped by all the new things they're learning that their brains don't let them sleep!
