DD hates car seat!

Hello,

Ever since my DD was born she has absolutely hated being in the car. She will scream nonstop for as long as the journey lasts, be it 5 minutes or 50.

I was hoping it would get better with age but she’s 4 months now and still no change. I realise that she’s still very little but it surely shouldn’t be this horrible?

I wondered if it was the seat itself, but she’s fine in it when we are not in the car.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can make it better?

Thanks!

My DD has been the same since tiny, she is 2 at the end of Feb..
We. Still. Have. The. Same. Problem. 😭
I don't think there's too much that can be done, if they hate the motion they hate it..
I have toys in the back, I take snacks even for quick trips.
The best thing we have is a nursery rhyme CD..
I absolutely detest it! But she likes it 🤷‍♀️

DS was the same until around 18 months-2. Nothing worked, he literally just got over it one day and now I struggle to keep him awake Hmm

Time is the only thing that worked in our case - she got old enough to be interested in a programme on an iPad and that seems to have done the trick. First few years were grim though. Sad

My DS was about 2 before he figured out that going in the car wasn't the end of the world.
It's not fun but just do what you can with stories, rhymes and toys to try to get them through it if you have to take a car journey.

Oh gosh ok, no silver bullet then sadly!

That might work if you have a baby werewolf...! Grin

AwesomeBadger · 17/12/2018 23:22

Grin Baby werewolf might be easier, apart from the whole bitey thing, thankfully not quite at that stage yet!

You'll get there! 😈

My little werewolf keeps getting his sodding arms out of the straps, need to buy an extra clip to keep him safe.
You just swap one set of problems for another! Xmas Wink

Another for whom time was the only answer!

doleritedinosaur · 18/12/2018 03:32

Sadly time here too.

We actually didn’t go on motorways for over a year as he screamed that much. But now at 21 Months he can manage almost 2 hour journeys.

Was bloody soul destroying though in the beginning.

Sorry OP, we've not been very helpful. I'd say music is your best bet if you can find something that DD likes and suffer it on repeat.
Also, don't be afraid to sing OldMcDonald loudly over and over like a mad woman for about 30 mins, tried and tested Xmas Wink

Thanks everyone, at least I know now that there’s no easy solution that I had just not thought of!

Will give some different types of music a go.
