Hello to anyone, I think is start to realised my dream to become a midwife and work with woman and their pregnancy ( if I am thinking I will fly away as happy) I am wondering if I should do some voluntary or get a little of experience for have a strong letters to present on the university!
I know will be hard, hard shift as well, no weekends or half term at home but I don't care 😍😍

Yes, get experience wherever you can. Lots of places won't accept volunteers in the maternity ward/delivery suite so be prepared to try other avenues. Try independent midwives, hypnobirth teachers, doulas etc. But as you say it is hard. Three years full time working shifts and essays at the same time. Thousands of people apply for a course ad NHS still pays fee's I believe? And don't say you are applying as you love babies because you work with women, not babies! Loads of people have made that mistake in the past.

@Iolaus84 I might be mistaken but I believe NHs doesnt pay the fees anymore

Doing adult nursing and based on the dwindling numbers they need every applicant they can get their hands on.

No, NHS doesn't pay fees for any healthcare courses now. Students are expected to pay to work throughout their course. www.rcm.org.uk/news-views-and-analysis/news/bursaries-have-been-scrapped

Midwifery students pay all their own fees now and must work full time when in placement, filling the shift pattern if their mentor so very little control of shifts. It is incredibly hard. You are right it can be tricky to get experience in a maternity unit but worth a try. Also try to have a chat with maternity staff to see what it's really like. Many are burning out and struggling with the immense pressure they are under.

It's the same story throughout the public sector. The British public believe that public sector workers should be slaves, 100% available 24/7 and doing the job for love.

Is English your first language, as it doesn’t sound like it, you may need to improve your language skills first

bluefolder makes an excellent point. Have you looked at English conversation classes? Your English is very good, but not at a level where you could competently handle a medical emergency.

I am a midwife.
Midwifery is now a degree course with the same fees as other degrees.
However, it's very hard to keep a part time job to help you through. Finances might be a problem.
There is a lot of written work, academic and clinical notes. Your current level of written English would not reach the standard. So work on this if you want to train in the UK
Volunteering with women and/or babies is good for the application and gives you something to talk about at interview. Children's centres, playgroups, breastfeeding support services quite often provide possibilities.
A lot of our students have done health care assistant jobs which is a good insight into the NHS.

Good luck!

Thank you so much to all of you! English is not my first language that's why I need to study for IELTS first and than I can apply for university! I need to improve a lot of my skills first and I know it!
