Christmas present for a man I don't know...

For DP's dad. We've met once, briefly - I'm spending a few days at his house over Christmas and I want to get him something. DP has been useless - apparently he doesn't really have hobbies or interests, just works a lot (has his own business)

Does he drink? Nice bottle of whiskey?

Leeds2 · 17/12/2018 00:33

I would get a bottle of red, in a nice bottle bag.

Nice leather wallet

LoniceraJaponica · 17/12/2018 07:38

Unless he is teetotal I find that a nice bottle of his favourite tipple is always a good idea.

GaryBaldbiscuit · 17/12/2018 07:42

smellies, chutney,
or ask dp to buy it!

LoniceraJaponica · 17/12/2018 07:49

I feel that smellies are a bit meh and subject to personal taste. OH is 66 and never uses smellies. He just uses soap. He never wears aftershave or cologne.

GaryBaldbiscuit · 17/12/2018 07:49

biscuits

Iknowthatguy · 17/12/2018 07:50

Surely your dp would choose a gift from both of you?

CurlsLDN · 17/12/2018 07:52

John Lewis or Waterstones voucher with a novelty Christmas chocolate

anniehm · 17/12/2018 08:13

Unless he's teetotal, wine and a box of biscuits.

BarbaraofSevillle · 17/12/2018 09:31

Yes, what does your DP normally buy him? Wouldn't he just buy his DF a gift from both of you?

TwoLads · 17/12/2018 12:04

DP is buying a gift of course but I wanted to get something myself too. He and his DW will both get me something individually

A lot of people like a bottle of port at Christmas. Even if it's not his thing, this is a good gift in terms of 'size' of gift and suitability for random man of certain age....
