What has your toddler had a tantrum/meltdown about today?

Our 2 1/2 year old DD has two identical dtesses. One is too small for her (I should take it out of her wardrobe), and the other fits her.

She wanted to wear the dress that was too small, and we wouldn't let her. Cue a 40 minute meltdown, where she bit the head off a salt dough angel Confused.

Please say it's not just my toddler?!

16 month old finished his banana and had a tantrum that there was no more banana... even bigger tantrum when I removed the banana skin to stop him from eating it. Xmas Hmm

My 3 year old had a meltdown earlier because DP looked at him
Properly screeching at the top of his lungs “don’t look at meeeeeee” then sobbed for about 20 minutes
🤷🏻‍♀️

Haha, I like those! We also have a toddler who doesn't like us looking at her when she's grumpy.

The other day I tried to tuck her chair in at dinner so she could reach the table, but this apparently made her not want dinner - "throw in the bin! Throw in the bin!".

She ate it all about five minutes later.

Ds and I have come 250 miles for a fake Christmas this weekend with my family. Yesterday I dragged the poor bugger on the train to Leicester Square to see Father Christmas and then dragged him back on the tube and today he’s just been so overwhelmed that he couldn’t cope. He’s tantrummed at everything. I had to retire upstairs with him two hours ago and he’s watching YouTube versions of PJ masks/Thomas/paw patrol. He’s 2.5 Blush

SockQueen · 16/12/2018 19:04

Because I helped DS (2) open the front door. It's a bit stiff, he can barely reach the handle, but "I DO IT! Mummy not help!" Hmm

Springtimeflowers · 16/12/2018 19:11

TwllBach poor you, that sounds awful! I think little ones can get so overwhelmed with everything this time of year.

And yes - we are NOT allowed to help dd!

Wouldn’t let her go to bed in her red Christmas dress, and insisted on pyjamas. Cruel monsters that we are...

My DD, almost 3, had a meltdown last week as we were getting on an Easyjet plane and she wanted to go on the purple plane, cue me trying to explain to her in front of 100 other passengers that the purple planes batteries had run out Confused

Chocolateheaven123 · 16/12/2018 22:50

My 21 m/o has had numerous tantrums today because:

He wanted to go upstairs so I had to take him off the first step so I could open the stair gate so he could go up the stairs

Because we cut his banana up the wrong way

Because we wouldn't let him eat orange peel

Because he couldn't open the washing machine door as it was half way through a cycle

Because the remote control wouldn't fit into Hsi toy oven

Because I washed his hair

He NEVER has this many in a day. It's been a fun day Hmm

CrystalMethHog · 16/12/2018 23:07

He didn't want his bacon roll cut in half.

I've been close to losing my shit today Grin

VTechnophobe · 16/12/2018 23:11

Got ketchup on her sausage while cutting it up to avoid her burning her mouth.

TheSheepofWallSt · 16/12/2018 23:16

Not tantrums but grumpy all day.

We’ve “had words” over everything from “no want butter on sand-ich” , to “I don’t want my poo gone” (nappy change) and a tearful meltdown because I asked him not to touch some cracked glass in a baby change facility - “mummy no cut finger! No want mummy cut finger! MUMMY FINGER NEED PLASTER!!!! GET ONE NOWWWW”
I hadn’t even touched the glass myself. Hmm

Springtimeflowers · 17/12/2018 06:55

Haha!

I read something recently, that said about 90% of todders decisions are based off emotions rather than logic. I definitely think this is true.
