Could it be just the one?

I know IABU here... but do we think if I found a single solitary flea, on only 1 of the 2 dogs, and nothing more... nor no evidence of any others that I may have caught the moment of infestation and killed it??

I'm going to flea bomb the house a week before Christmas aren't I.

My dogs have brought in a solitary flea two or three times and I've never seen any evidence of an infestation or any others so you may be lucky.

I found one flea in my house and spent a fortnight and a ton of money de-fleaing everything in sight. Never saw evidence of any more anywhere but just couldn't rest for a few weeks, it was on my mind constantly.

I'm hoping so. She had a few dirts on her when I continued brushing, but nothing more. She's white so they can be seen easily if I really go over her... I've bought some flea spray to apply and am boiling their bedding... so fingers crossed.

Hi. I'm a practice manager of a vets and spend a lot of time talking to people about fleas.

Unless you've just been to someone's home and the flea jumped on, you've also got larvae and pupae in your soft furnishings.

Unless you have an infestation, it won't be obvious.

You need to get some Indorex from your vet. And a good spot on treatment also from your vet. Don't waste your money on stuff from pet shops - it doesn't work.

I really wouldn't worry about one flea as long as your dogs are flea treated. Just keep an eye. If you see more or start to get bitten then you might need to deflea the house.

I've had infractions in the past (many years ago) and you know when you have a flea infestion! I could see loads of them jumping on your feet.

I have a few times forgot to deflea my cats on time in recent years and started getting bitten and seen a few fleas. I simply treated my cats with advocate and did a lot of hoovering and in a few weeks all the fleas were gone. No need to spray the house with toxic chemicals and go to all the effort of spraying the entire house.

Thanks @TeaByTheSeaside

We are no stranger to fleas but will admit it's not very regular we get them. I've already ordered some indorex. Thus far Advantage has done a fabulous job, not so much when you forget to do it though.

Thanks MiniMum. I've only had one infestation prior to this and shortly after applying flea treatment they all sort of came to the surface to die. No sight of anything yet. I've got some indorex on the way just in case, but hopefully we won't have to resort to that as I'm 8 weeks pregnant so DH will have to do it which he'll be thrilled about.
