I don't want a 'No deal' Brexit - I can't vote remain in a second referendum

I still want to leave the EU for democratic reasons.

I don't want people to go without medication or food.

I appreciate people who voted remain did so with the best of intentions and most have accepted the vote. I can't give the bullying remoaners (I am ashamed of the extremists who voted leave wanting 'No deal') the satisfaction of changing my mind, the idea of their smug faces after calling us "Stupid, racists" for the past two and a half years, I simply can't change my mind, I am not alone either.

Vote on what you think is best for the country, if it ever came to that

You can always fib and say you voted leave

I don't understand this attitude...you think its a bad idea to have no deal but won't vote against it because you dont want someone you dont know saying that you were wrong to vote the way you did originally

That makes no sense...you voted leave because you thought it was right thing to do at the time...you want to vote against no deal now because you think that is the right thing to do now

I also (while im here) don't understand the i voted remain but if there was a new vote i would vote leave because....the EU are mean, a remain person was mean to a leave person on mumsnet, ive no idea what democracy is but i dont think a new vote is democratic etc etc

Its the same on a lot of feminism and politics threads...i reckon that a third of those people are stupid, a third are lying and im only talking about thirds because i am trying to be polite, i cant think of a reason for the last third

A new vote now is not democratic. A lot of people likening to cyclical elections, but we don't get an election do-over before the new government has even formed. Ergo, we don't get a new referendum on EU membership until the withdrawal has occurred.

There are people who voted leave because they don't like the precedence of the ECJ and the EU Commission over UK law. In of itself, that has nothing to do with racism/immigration nor economics. I doubt many people were really motivated by that strand of argument.

Remoaners should really look to the remain campaign more than the leave. Yes, leave trumped (in a very modern sense) up messages that stemmed from a grain of truth. Just like every election campaign in all of history then.
Leave should have put their case in as stark terms. Never mind the vague sense of economic apocalypse - they should have talked about trade (and immigration across an Irish border). They should have talked about the spend for the Civil Service to prepare for a redraft of every policy connected to the existance and trade of goods and services. £350m/week? I reckon DEFRA get thru that on poultry issues alone.

But the left in this country are shit. They simpered when Tories stripped worker rights and tried to add new professions to the list of those banned from striking. The LibDems let the Tories walk all over them over tuition fees - they might not have won that fight, but no one saw any fight. Trump, UKIP, and the rest of the Right of the world will continue to dominate until the Left realise it's because the Right know how to play the public like a fiddle. The Left can take the high ground if they like, they just have to lose everything.

What would be the point of a new referendum after withdrawal? The whole suggestion relating to a new referendum is that we should be able to vote on what is actually available to us. Shutting the gate behind us and then having a look is ridiculous.

Both sides of the campaign were pretty terrible. David Cameron even used the world war in his remain campaign insinuating that these people would have wanted a united Europe. How dare he bring these people into this, a way that they had no choice in that was over 70 years ago. The leave campaign was in poor taste too.
But we have a PM who wasn’t even on the leave side, so the statements made by the Leavers can’t really be fulfilled.
A second referendum could produce the same results. I also think that whilst the remain MPs are shouting for second referendum, not many of them would want the responsibility of actually fulfilling this, most of them are spineless and wouldn’t want to commit political suicide.
Apparently the Armed services are on stand by for a no deal Brexit. I have no idea what exactly they are supposed to do, there’s isn’t many of them left thanks to Cameron and May.
