Disneyland advice please!

Never been to Disneyland Paris and not much of a traveller so am looking for advice.

I’ve just been quoted £2,215 online for flights, 2 nights and 3 day park passes for 5 people for room only. No meal plans or breakfast. Does this sound about right? As I said, I’m not very good out of our comfort zone and wouldn’t want to drive there or by ferry.

Does anyone have any helpful advice or tips?

Sounds a lot to me. We did 4 nights 5 days tickets at Easter school holidays for 4 of us for £800 this year but we did drive ourselves. If your price is for two rooms then maybe reasonable but if one room seems a touch expensive. We tweaked dates slightly and it made a huge difference. I.e thurs to sun not fri to Mon. We booked directly with Disneyland Paris

Newsername · 15/12/2018 21:20

Ah so I’ve booked Friday to Sunday during half term. Let me change the dates and see if it makes a difference

Hmm, not really made much of a difference. It’s a Family room in hotel Santa Fe. My dh doesn’t drive and I don’t want the stress of driving in another country as I get nervous. Otherwise getting there by ferry or eurotunnel would be better.

Sounds a lot. Particular for the Hotel you mentioned. I think you could get it for cheaper.

cowfacemonkey · 15/12/2018 21:46

We did 4 nights 5 days, full board in the Newport Bay hotel and Eurostar direct from st pancras for £3000 for 2 adults and 2 teenagers.

cowfacemonkey · 15/12/2018 21:48

Other than a few drinks we didn’t spend anything else whilst we were there as we were stuffed with the 3 meals everyday. Food is very expensive there so I preferred to know we were all paid for before going.

Teakind · 15/12/2018 21:50

Can you book bits separately rather than as a package? That seems a lot. We stayed at Santa Fe in June and I think it cost about £120 a night through booking.com. We also booked park tickets through Picniq which were the cheapest I could find (about £35 each). This wasn’t in the school holiday so would have been cheaper.

Where did you get that quote from? Was it the Disney site?

We got the ferry and drove which doesn’t help you but I’m sure there must be good Eurostar offers available.

cowfacemonkey · 15/12/2018 21:53

Oh we went in August so peak prices probably!

SimplyPut · 15/12/2018 21:53

Seems on the high side. We are going (five of us) four nights/five days passes and half board in July for under £2k. We are driving though .

EnglishGirlApproximately · 15/12/2018 22:23

There aren’t any deals on for that time of year at the moment if hang fire until the January offers start. If you can get either two nights free or Hb meal plan included it makes a huge difference.

chocolateworshipper · 15/12/2018 22:45

Have you been on the Disneyland Paris for Brits Facebook page? Loads of very helpful people on there, and they know EVERYTHING about Disneyland Paris! Worth asking on there - you'll definitely get some help.

Newsername · 15/12/2018 22:55

The quote was on the Disney site. I think I’ll wait until January to see if any offers come up.

Sounds about right. It's EXPENSIVE. We paid 2k for 4 nights at sequoia lodge, the hotel meal plan, in October half term. It was so worth it my kids won't forget it.

We had breakfast and dinner included, paid extra for character breakfast and princess dinner.

babysharkah · 15/12/2018 23:05

Oh and we drove, train not ⛴..

Darkbaptism · 15/12/2018 23:09

Have you looked at getting the Eurostar rather than flying? It’s so easy and you can even get your luggage taken from the station to your hotel so you can head straight to Disneyland.

GreenEggsHamandChips · 15/12/2018 23:12

Which half term? what offer does it say your on? Have you tried increasing the number of nights? And try it with Eurostar

Feb 2019 your booking too late for early deals and too early for last min. October can by expensive....

RubixCubix · 15/12/2018 23:20

Get a quote without the flights and then see if you can book direct with the airline for less than the difference.

Also if you're going for a family room, they are sometimes excluded from deals. Try booking 2 separate rooms (1 adult in each room) to see if that works out cheaper. You can ask for the bookings to be linked so you get adjacent rooms and most have interconnecting doors for this purpose.

The facebook group Disneyland Paris Tips for Brits is great. They'll have lots of advice on how to save money and what to do before you go and perks while your there.

jemrock · 16/12/2018 13:39

That is crazy expensive for Sante Fe! I wouldn't pay more than £80 a night there for a room at the absolute most without meals included. We have actually never paid more than £60.

We usually fly from Edinburgh and flights cost us between £60 - £110 depending on when we book (we do it ourselves). Have a look on Skyscanner.

If the Disney hotels are silly money then we get an AirBnB in the closest town - there's a train station literally seconds from the park entrance and the closest town is just one stop away so very easy to navigate. Food at Disney is really expensive so eating breakfast off site / buying offsite and taking in and also taking in our own snacks and lunch helps us keep the costs way down.

I would really recommend pricing flights separately and then looking at prices for the hotels.

Definitely when doing this try arriving Mon - Wed - it will be lots cheaper and I can't tell you how much quieter the parks will be if it isn't a weekend.

Look at the Disney website for other countries - try the Spanish/French and German ones at a minimum. They all often have different deals to the UK one.

Look on Expedia etc not just the Disney site to get prices.

For tickets for 3 days it miiiiight be cheaper for one of you at least to get an annual pass. Prices start at 149 euros for the cheapest one (though has lots of black out dates). They all have different perks - some let you get money off hotel rooms/give you a discount on tickets etc.

Have a look on the Dibb website - it's such a useful resource and people will be more than happy to help you.

Have a great trip!

Wow thanks for all the replies! Really helpful tips, thanks everyone.

Sounds expensive for that hotel. Try the website “short breaks” - we’ve had good deals with them. Depending where you are, I’d consider Eurostar as it takes you to the gates of the park, rather than flying.

Zevitevitchofcwsmas · 16/12/2018 15:42

Are you yiu able to drive. On the ye Disney fb pages most people drive and do tunnel or ferry, if its a long way in UK to folkestone they stop at cheap premier inns (30 quid a night) and drive to Disney. 3 hours straight there. Stay off site. Free shuttle to parks, self cater a bit annual pass and return!
