Do you put your wine glasses in the dishwasher?

We've got some ultra cheap Sainsburys wine glasses atm. Would you put them in the dishwasher? How long til they go cloudy?

I’ve got cheap John Lewis ones and they go in their fine without getting cloudy.

FadedRed · 15/12/2018 20:17

None of my cheap glasses have gone cloudy, low lead content. Never put the lead crystal ones on, always hand wash them.

Watto1 · 15/12/2018 20:17

I did this with my old cheap Sainsbury's wine glasses and it was fine. I would do it with my current glasses, only the stems are longer and they don't fit!

Harrykanesrightsock · 15/12/2018 20:18

Ikea ones have been dishwashered for a couple of years no clouding and washed, ahem, quite often.

DeadBod · 15/12/2018 20:19

Only cheap glasses. They've not gone dull yet. I hand wash my delicate posh wine glasses and my large gin glasses mainly due to the fact that they're too tall for the dishwasher.

Clevs · 15/12/2018 20:30

I would but they don't fit!

AnneLovesGilbert · 15/12/2018 20:32

Mine don’t fit either. And the best bit? They came free with the dishwasher Grin

MeetOnTheSIedge · 15/12/2018 20:33

I would but we've got one of those annoying cutlery drawers in our dishwasher so they don't fit.

ForgotTheBastardElfAgain · 15/12/2018 20:36

Massive Ikea ones go in and come out no problems... unless I load the dishwasher pissed in which case I usually smash them.

BackforGood · 15/12/2018 20:38

Yes. I've never had one go cloudy. Put glasses in for decades.

ILoveDolly · 15/12/2018 20:39

IKEA glasses here. I only hand wash the fancy crystal ones we got at our wedding so I prefer to use the ikea ones which dishwasher brill

Mayrhofen · 15/12/2018 20:39

Hell, I put crystal in the dishwasher.

They're fine, I don't usually smash them until I unload it and chip them on the granite!

DramaAlpaca · 15/12/2018 20:40

My cheap ones yes, my posh ones no. They get handwashed just in case of scratches.

bumblebee39 · 15/12/2018 20:41

Never put my wine glasses in the dishwasher but they get used rarely enough that's not an issue

I put the normal glasses in though and some of the cheaper ones have broken

Cheap ones go in, make sure you've topped up the rinse aid and dishwasher salt and they shouldn't go cloudy

BertieBotts · 15/12/2018 20:47

I assume you all know about the wine glass holder thing which folds down in a dishwasher? DH didn't! It keeps them much more secure.

Etino · 15/12/2018 20:52

Yes welcome back!

homebirds · 15/12/2018 20:54

EVERYTHING goes in my dishwasher!!

BarbaraofSevillle · 15/12/2018 21:32

Me too homebirds.

I've never had anything go cloudy in about 20 years of dishwasher usage and all my glasses cost a pound each or less from Ikea, which is in walking distance, so yes, I do put my wineglasses and everything else I can think of, including the kitchen bin, the washing machine drawer and the oven door glass in the dishwasher.

BarbaraofSevillle · 15/12/2018 21:36

I don't know if it makes a difference but I don't really understand the concept of expensive/naice glassware etc.

The things I've bought from Ikea seem perfectly nice, durable etc and lasted a damn sight longer and fit better in the dishwasher than the fucking Black Friday half price deal but still extortionatly expensive Denby crockery that I bought a couple of years ago that is now all faded and scratched.

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 15/12/2018 21:56

Yes I do but they do tend to go cloudy.

HildaZelda · 15/12/2018 22:41

Cheapy ones, yes.
