can I use bricks to raise my bed frame higher?

Years ago we bought a low bed frame. I'd like it to be a foot higher. Has anyone tried to raise their bed frame? I've seen risers that add 3 inches, that wouldn't do it for me.

What are the legs/feet like on the bed? Bricks might get a bit wobbly!

KurriKurri · 15/12/2018 11:25

I think bricks would be a bit unstable. How about having two matresses one on top of the other ?

redsummershoes · 15/12/2018 11:31

only if you were to make yourself a plinth from bricks and mortar. maybe with a fence post bracket for the bed leg to slot into.
otherwise you might get a nasty surprise.
tbh a man&van or a joiner/carpenter should be able to custom make you something that looks nice, is safe, to your required height.

Can you post a photo of the legs please?

I'm an OT and could probably advise

ViragoKnows · 15/12/2018 11:37

Would give...

I don't know how to post pics but thanks OT! It has thick square flat wooden legs.

I'll check out that link virago, thanks!

Bricks might be wobbly. What about books?

AlanThePig · 15/12/2018 11:43

@dudsville I have the risers Virago posted in white on my kitchen table. I bought chairs that wouldn't go under Blush so raised the table.

They are perfectly stable and would work for you.

Haven't tried this, but my first thought would be how many times will you stub your toes on the bricks in the middle of the night? :/ Or am I just clumsy?!

Sitranced · 15/12/2018 12:10

Breeze blocks would be fine. You'd need to stack them horizontally not vertically.

dudsville · 15/12/2018 14:48

Re toe stubbing, the feet are helpfully set in several inches and the mattress goes to the edge of the slats so it's a good bed for feet!

Thanks all, I will look at bricks!
