I’m making a musical playlist, what shall I put on it?
I love a good musical song, they are so dramatic. Any recommendations?

Can't believe no one's mentioned 'Tell me it's not True' from Blood Brothers!

Saw Wicked for the 1st time last week. Not bowled over. Found music very 'samey'.

Another vote for All of Jesus Christ Superstar. Love it!

Jail House Tango -Chicago

I really don't like musicals, but I love:

'Who Will Buy' from Oliver

and the school song from Goodbye Mr Chips with Peter O Toole and Petula Clarke (not a musical you hear much about !)

theliverpoolone · 14/12/2018 22:29

Tell me it's not true - Blood Brothers. Makes me cry every time.

GlitterPixie · 14/12/2018 22:39

Stars from Les Mis especially Roger Allam’s version

Teacherlikemisstrunchball · 14/12/2018 22:40

‘Washington on your side’ and ‘what’d I miss’ from Hamilton. I can’t listen to ‘it’s quiet uptown’ without crying so don’t tend to play it in the car Grin
‘Heaven on their minds’ from Jesus Christ superstar
‘Hello’ from Book of Mormon
‘Ease on down the road’ the wiz
‘Seasons of love’ from Rent
‘Nothing’ from A Chorus Line
‘Day by day’ from Godspell

I would want:
"Wouldn't It Be Loverly" and "With a Little Bit of Luck" from My Fair Lady
"When You Taught Me How to Dance" from Mrs. Potter, a musical about Beatrix Potter.

GrubbyHipsterBeard · 14/12/2018 22:55

I don’t think Love Never Dies should have been made and if it should, the concept should have been totally different but if you take it at face value, Beneath a Moonless Sky is a beautifully haunting tale of a lost love

notacooldad · 14/12/2018 23:03

Angry inch. From Hedwig and the angry inch.

Annandale · 14/12/2018 23:07

Show me and just you wait from My Fair Lady

Annandale · 14/12/2018 23:09

Being Alive from Company
No-one is alone from into the woods

YoureAMeanOneMrGrinch · 14/12/2018 23:11

I mean, all of Hamilton, but "It's Quiet Uptown" makes me want to cry forever.
Also, "The World Was Wide Enough" And "Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story" is just the perfect ending.

Special mention to "First Burn" from the Hamildrops.

BonnesVacances · 14/12/2018 23:11

On My Own- Les Mis
Feed the Birds- Mary Poppins
Maybe This Time- Cabaret

A PP mentioned What Part Of My Body Hurts The Most from Bat Out Of Hell. I saw it recently and the performance of that song really stood out.

My thing appears to be emotional ballads.
