Grave robbing at Christmas.

Cheerful topic I know so apologies.

I joined a group on FB after some children's specifically babies graves got vandalised, my son is buried there and myself and other parents now make a point of checking other the other graves and doing a quick post to say everything is ok.

There was a warning posted last night that some person/people had been stealing wreaths from both the baby section and the adults and selling them in the local pubs.

A few people commented that this is common everywhere and I was just a bit shocked. I wondered maybe if it was because I'm in a very poor area not that that at all excuses such abhorrent behaviour. Is this something anyone else has come across?

vandalism yes but stealing wreaths and selling them no that is so low

I wonder if you are in the same area as me, as I have read a recent news story on this.

Despicable behaviour.

Flowers sorry for your loss.

So sorry - yes there's a warning at our local churchyard from the council and a reminder to would be thieves that cctv isn't operation.

A side note, if stuffed toys go missing it may not be thieves, well not human ones - we've found them in other parts of the churchyard, buried under bushes and up the road - it's the foxes! My dog (who hates foxes) is very good at locating them and we return them to the children's section each time.

That's reassuring issey I was hoping it wasn't a widespread issue.

Notto it's BpAu in the northeast, I hope in a way it is the same place.

Wow. I'm so sorry to hear that. This isn't an issue in our area.
MIL gets pissy that they "steal" rightfully remove her filthy old weathered and torn flowers but no one has touched all the wreaths at all until they're dead and brown.

It would be nice if these scumbags were caught and punished but we all know that will never happen. Next best thing we can hope for is they fall face first onto a gravestone.

Can the Facebook group tag the local bars and pubs and make them aware of what's happening?

No local business would want to be associated with something so low, I'm sure they'd at least share a post asking their punters to be mindful.

Sadly I am in a different part of the North.

Interesting about the foxes though, as never though of that.

It’s not unheard of in my part of Herts and is one of the reasons my ds was cremated not buried - I wouldn’t be able to control my temper if someone stole from his grave.
