New job woes

Had a crap day in new job. I'm part time and there's alot to pick up so it hasn't been easy. Today i was doing an assessment and getting information was really difficult. The laptop wasn't connecting so I just felt lost trying to gather information and make a judgement without the prompts from the system. I'm being assessed tomorrow and I'm.panicking

Oh dear. Take a deep breath. I know how you feel I've been there. It's a new job don't be hard on yourself, take your time, it doesn't matter if you're slow. Tell your boss you want to be thorough so you do a good job. You'll be ok 💞

It's fine!! Scream, eat cake, all of it! What job do you do?

Oh and technology senses when you're stressed I'm certain. I have cried many times when it's let me down

Sounds tough. Could you ask for an extended training period before your assessment, in light of the IT issues you've had?

I too have a job where accuracy is vital. You have to be set up to succeed, and that means your employer giving you everything you need to succeed.

You've got this!

I'm only part time too so it's hard. they'd struggle to give me an extended period tbh

I'm also in that sort of job too, mistakes are not tolerated. All I can really say is cake and chocolate and lots of it! You are not a machine. I make more mistakes when I'm worried and stressed, try and relax, try and come across with solutions and don't show panic. I.e. find a positive about the IT failure, say what you learned from it. You're going to be fine. I've done over 20 years in child protection, if you're in that kind of field you really need cake x
