I use these but dh complains it leaves the tops too damp Hmm he wants to use a cotton facecloth 🙄 help us settle this argument!

Happy to replace cloth every week or so (if cheap) and I usually soak regularly

I use the micro fibre ones

Otterses · 12/12/2018 11:44

I use DS's old muslins, and cheeky wipes that have seen better days.

PetuliaBlavatsky · 12/12/2018 11:44

Micro fibre here too

Microfibre here too.

Jarstastic · 12/12/2018 12:03

I have loads of white micro fibre ones. I got them on Amazon.
I get through at least one a day. They go in washes which are minimum 60 degrees.

BlackInk · 12/12/2018 12:24

One of these... or a washable dish cloth. We used to use disposable sponges, but trying to cut out single-use plastics. Just pop them in the wash every couple of days.

Yes to e-cloths. I just replaced mine after 8 years! Not the kitchen e-cloth even, just the multi purpose.

agreyrock · 12/12/2018 12:35

I always thought the ecloth was more for polishing, glass doors etc. Never thought to use it for kitchen worktop! I'll order some now, thanks

I think e-cloth do various types. I chose this one to replace disposable washing up sponges with the scrubby bit on one side, but e-cloth do standard cloths too. The one above is fine for wiping surfaces - the non-scrubby side.

Troels · 12/12/2018 13:45

I have a dozen microfibre ones, use it for the day (or less) and throw it in the washbucket. Good for cleaning mirrors too.

Swipetounlock · 14/12/2018 08:20

ecloth do make a glass polishing cloth, it's non fuzzy. The ones I mean are the ones that look like towelling. Also they come in different colours, I use a different colour for dusting, bathroom and kitchen.

Also I recommend these brushes from Lakeland to wash up, they literally last 5 years:

For more stubborn burnt on food I buy cheap green scourers and cut them into little pieces for single use and throw away. More hygenic than sponges or scourer that sit on the sink getting manky.

MrsPear · 14/12/2018 09:04

Cotton dish cloth - I use separate one from the washing up. I dry over with the tea towel both get put in the bucket nightly for weekly wash at 90.

AviatorShades · 14/12/2018 10:22

Microfibre cloths for everything. Wondrous things!

UatuTheWatcher · 14/12/2018 10:40

Cotton dishcloths in our kitchen. I have a whole pile of them. They get used for the day and then bunged in the washing machine to be washed when I next do a wash. If I use one for the floor or a messy clean up job then they only get the one use before being bunged in the machine.

I don’t use microfibre clothes as I read they release plastics into the environment.

Chewbecca · 14/12/2018 10:42

J cloths, same as you. Surely if you wring it out enough before you wipe, the worktops won't be too wet?

stabulous · 14/12/2018 10:44

If it's just for wiping down, I use Regina Blitz paper and not cloths.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 14/12/2018 10:50

E cloth here too. I have silestone worktops so clean with the e cloth kitchen plus method granite cleaner and polish with the glass one.

NorthEndGal · 14/12/2018 12:32

When my bathroom towels get raggedy, I cut them up and make cleaning cloths.

UatuTheWatcher · 14/12/2018 15:58

@NorthEndGal, I shall hopefully be doing that later on next year. My towels have lasted me years and are only now starting to look past their best.
Do you sew around the cut edges?

vdbfamily · 14/12/2018 16:08

Use same as you, decent quality ones and they go in washing machine a few times before they fall apart.

ProfessionallyUnoffended · 14/12/2018 16:19

I use "moppets" which are flat sponges

NorthEndGal · 14/12/2018 17:43

@UatuTheWatcher I dont, just trim the loose bits as needed. It stops DH from thinking they might be face cloths!

UatuTheWatcher · 15/12/2018 01:47

Hahahaha! good thinking :-)

Bloodybridget · 15/12/2018 03:10

Those yellow Vileda ones, they're the only ones I've found that don't get smelly, and they wash well.

MsLToe · 15/12/2018 03:27

None, because I think they’re unhygienic. So I use paper towels and even as I’m writing this am thinking how non environmentally friendly they are.

How do you make sure the cloths aren’t full of bacteria? Surely you’d have to be cleaning them all the time?
