Royal babies. Do you think William and Catherine will have a 4th?

Yes I know we don't have a crystal ball, but the Queen had 4, incl Edward when she was 40. IME families often repeat the number of children-all my friends who have 3 DCs are one of 3 themselves. So Catherine may be happy with 3, but she does seem quite a broody type so I wonder if there may be one more? Obviously money is not an issue and she appears to spring back into shape, other than having horrible morning sickness.

Louis is a great name! But I'm generally a lone voice on the baby name threads. Agree re the environmental thing. And I can also see that, while C clearly loves motherhood, she might well be glad to move on from that stage. From a performance perspective, the pressure of having to get back in shape each time (not to mention shiny like a showpony during) must be a lot to handle.

BertramKibbler · 11/12/2018 18:02

Nothing wrong with the name Louis, I meant more that it was one of George’s middle names.

Cachailleacha · 11/12/2018 18:04

W&C seem to do a lot of speaking out re the environment. Given the issues that overpopulation are causing I was surprised that they had 3. It would be pretty hypocritical to have 4.
I agree. I thought the done thing these days was to only replace yourselves.

Ah, gotcha.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 11/12/2018 18:16

She looks so happy to me that I think she’s done. Can’t have been easy going through HG.

meikyo · 11/12/2018 18:22

They can have as many as they like as long as I don't have to pay for them. (Lifelong republican).

JinglingHellsbells · 11/12/2018 18:27

He's already getting on a bit and he's got no reason to begrudge Harry's kids the throne

Seriously? You think mid 30s or older is old for a dad?

My DCs are almost his age and none of their peers have sprogged yet. Too busy working. Couples are delaying families more and more, often till the bloke is mid-late 30s.

Charles is in the position his brothers x2 and sister x1 all want roles / housing etc.

I don't think Anne is that bothered, is she? She has her own causes and interests which she has had for many years, her own home, which she has also had for years, so she doesn't need another one, and is kept quite busy with the business of running a country estate.

I was surprised W & C went for third, but since they did, I wouldn't be hugely surprised if they had a fourth.

surferjet · 11/12/2018 18:30

I think she’ll have a 4th yes.
Another little girl would be lovely:

KismetHardie · 11/12/2018 18:33

If so I'm placing money on Alice. Or maybe Ursula Grace, who knows, would love it if they went totally wild

TeaAddict235 · 11/12/2018 18:36

I'd be surprised if they did have anymore, but on the other hand, what else is Kate's role? Sad but true.

On the other hand, I thought that 2 children were the marker for very financially stable families, 3 was a push and 4 was a bit martyr-esque?

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 11/12/2018 18:36

Having suffered from HG as she has, I'm in awe of her getting through three pregnancies let alone going for a 4th.

Icklepup · 11/12/2018 18:40

I also think they'll have a fourth.

Vika1985 · 11/12/2018 18:48

@surferjet and another little boy wouldn't?!Hmm

TheCraicDealer · 11/12/2018 18:55

I think they'll have a fourth. Just a feeling- they seem to love being parents, she appears to bounce back physically after babies (even with the HG) and with no financial concerns they can have all the help you'd ever want. Although the points about the environment and awareness over the desire for a "slimmed down monarchy" are persuasive.

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 11/12/2018 19:24

I don't usually comment on royals threads, but here goes. It's entirely up to them and what's possible, of course, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they had one or even two more. I know I would, assuming all's well for them. They'll ensure they all have good educations, and, I hope, encourage them towards worthwhile independent careers.

KismetHardie · 11/12/2018 19:43

Blackbelt you start a post with those words, I'm expecting something far more controversial!

jessstan2 · 11/12/2018 19:45

No I don't think they will have any more, three is enough and they are gorgeous children. Unless they have an accident of course, you never know.

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 11/12/2018 19:54

I thought suggesting they might even have 5 children, when their environmental credentials and general move towards a slimmer future monarchy have been pointed out, might be controversial - a little bit, anyway. Sorry to disappoint. I'll try harder next time. Xmas Grin

Kikithewitch · 11/12/2018 20:03

I’ve had 3 HG pregnancies and they were awful.
I couldn’t even imagine doing it 4 times, and although not at all royalty rich we are comfortable and could afford a 4th, I put my foot down and dh had the snip.

noodlenosefraggle · 11/12/2018 20:04

Jamie Oliver is always banging on about sustainability, yet has 5 kids and blames his wife for begging him to have more! It seems to be a blind spot amongst some people. Why would they encourage their kids to be independent unless they were forced to? Kate's family are self made yet seem to have done exactly the opposite with all 3 of their kids, and Williams family are well, the Royal Family who exist to live a life of privelege and dependence!

surferjet · 11/12/2018 20:11

Vika1985
A baby boy would be lovely of course, but she already has 2 boys, that’s all I meant.
Would be nice for Charlotte to have a sister.

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 11/12/2018 20:21

I wonder what the world will be like, in 13-18 years when their children become adults? Or possibly in 16-21 years when they finish education? Charles will probably be on the throne, with a still youngish William in waiting. I'd want my young adult children to be doing something worthwhile in the future if I were Kate, (I'm not, no need to ponder that one), and, after all, that's much better for anyone's mental health, royal or not.

explodingkitten · 11/12/2018 20:29

I always feel sorry for her that she has to go outside to be photographed with the new baby while just having given birth. Instead of a nice quiet cuddle she needs to get her hair and make up done and try to look decent (tbf, she looks amazing although a bit tired afterwards). I couldn't imagine a worse time.

TulipsInbloom1 · 11/12/2018 20:31

I reckon a fourth in 2020. To coincinde with H&M's DC2.
