New loo seat - wooden or plastic?

So i'm going into town later to get a new loo seat.

Firstly, do I get a wooden one or a plastic one? Which is 1) most practical, and 2) comfortable?

Secondly, do I get a plain one or a fancy patterned seat? Are patterned loo seats naff looking?

Ours is stripey. I love it.

Defo plastic.

Soft close lid.

£10 to £20. Wilkos are the best for them.

Wooden ones are very dated, and get quite mouldy and manky after a while. Harder to keep clean too.

I reckon people who have wooden toilet seats, and the same ones who have carpet in the bathroom! Grim.

Wooden toilet seat owner. Easier to keep clean than plastic ones. Not unhygienic at all. No carpet in bathroom. Thanks.

I love my wooden loo seats. They are much warmer on a cold morning! They are smooth and coated, so no splinters and no wee soaking up.

KnittingSister · 11/12/2018 18:25

Wood has natural antibacterial properties, it's warmer than plastic and you clean it just as you would any other toilet seat.

Enamel?? that would be a bit cold on the bum wouldn't it?

redfruitgum · 12/12/2018 10:00

And here it is Grin its a moulded wooden one with soft close lid. Yay or ney?

I have a toilet seat that comes off for cleaning. Fantastic.

fussychica · 12/12/2018 10:09

First one that fits your toiletGrin. Our toilet is the modern D shape and quite small, it's been a bastard of a job trying to buy a new one.

I saw one of those clip on seats but it was £30+

I am surprised at the naysayers regarding wooden seats. They're not all mahogany Victorian piss sponges you know. We have this one:

Its lovely, not sucked up a drop of wee and not freezing old to sit on.

I have black resin
It’s good
Get nice solid fixings
Mine was about £30

As long as you're happy it's fine Grin That is a nice shade of blue though.

If you're ridiculously anal like me into coordination, could you get a blue bottle of bleach instead of a green one?
