Fuck me, I'm having no luck at the minute.

This morning I slipped down the stairs AGAIN.

Instead of landing on my foot like I did 6 weeks ago (causing a stress fracture of the 3rd metatarsal - crutches and boot needed...) I landed with my back on the edge of the step.
Totally winded myself and it took a while to get my breath back.

I've managed okay today, some twinges but nothing too drastic until this evening.
I had a hot bath, took a dose of co-codamol due to my back becoming quite painful and got into bed as normal.
Have been watching TV, gone to get up and I can't move!!!

My back has totally seized up, I'm in agony. Luckily my dad is staying with me for a few days so I called him to come and help me get out of bed - he moved me very slowly (it took 15 minutes to get me to standing) and the pain was about a 8/10.
I did some small stretches so that I could move enough to get to the loo (just rotating tiny amounts from side to side) and now I can't walk without dragging my foot.
My leg feels so heavy, like it's fallen asleep.

Anyone got any tips on how to loosen myself up again? I've tried some naproxen, currently got a hot water bottle on my back and will try some deep heat once it goes cold.
The pain is something else though, the co-codamol is barely touching it and unless I lay completely still it sends me through the roof.

Aww, your dad sounds fab! Move him in, it would be great for you both!

Fingers crossed it was nothing serious

Thank you all for checking in on me!

I got to the hospital at 4am - back totally and utterly seized up.
Needed Gas&Air + morphine and some other sort of medication just to get me in the ambulance.

There's no breaks fortunately, but they seem to think that I've got some sort of disc problem (either bulging, slipped or chipped.)
I'm now waiting to see what happens next - doctor has said that due to the hospital being in special measures I could be waiting quite a while for a scan Sad so it may be a case of making sure my back/hip is stable and secure enough; drugging me up and sending me home to take it easy.

I've got 3 more weeks until my MSK appointment if nothing else.

Glad I came in though, for some decent pain management if nothing else. My dad is worried sick and after updating him is staying until at least Christmas - so that's a bit of a relief.

He's also talking about getting a stairlift installed Grin

Oh boy!

I'm glad you have a pain management plan Who, from your posts last night it was clear that you needed one.Flowers Your dad sounds like a star. Say YES to the stair lift. Not that I'm saying you're a dozy twat who can't manage stairs or anything.Xmas Wink You've probably got a Localised Extreme Gravity Spot.Xmas Grin

I’m glad you got properly checked out in hospital. Flowers

WhoTookTheChristmasCookie · 11/12/2018 17:22

Thank you all again. Thanks

I'm now home with more morphine, diazepam, co-codamol and strict instructions to rest and avoid all stairs.

@DioneTheDiabolist he's a star. I'd be totally fucked if it weren't for him, staying away from stairs and looking at Nerf padding for myself Grin I wish the stairlift would be something I could have, but I'm in a townhouse - that's a lot of stairs!
