About to repaint the living room due to some damp but stuck on what colour/colours to choose.

Currently pale grey (my fave colour) but bored of it now as grey is everywhere.

Think white will look cold as it’s a large room, south facing (edwardian property).

Like dark walls but again think I will tire of it as it’s so popular.

Was thinking of maybe a putty shade or a very pale green. Does that sound mad?

It’s not that much different than the dark grey it is currently.

It is, I would say the oval room blue is veering towards a slightly more greeny hue, I did post pics of my hall on the decor thread as I was asking for some suggestions to make it a bit lighter, the top half of the wall is white with a slight blue tinge & didn’t really want to decorate the whole lot as it not been done that long, just gone off the grey😳

thanks dontcallmelen. I think your right it looks greeny grey, it’s lovely.

Oval Room Blue looks much less green on my walls. I have ‘pigeon’ in one of my rooms and dontcallmehelens tester patch looks more like that to me. The ORB in my house is darker and more blue. More true to the colour chart version. Obviously it depends on the orientation of the room, the type of light it gets and looking at these things online depends on the time of day it was photographed (in fact loads of factors photography wise) and of course, the colour settings on your device. Pictures don’t tell the full story.

My hall doesn’t get a lot of light downstairs, as the top half of the door has Victorian coloured glass, pic was taken in the morning but yesterday was quite a grey day, even looking at it with the naked eye it has a definite greeny tinge to it, I think it would look much bluer in my kitchen which is south facing & has lots of natural light, that the maddening thing with paint colours though, so much depends on other factors I’m driving myself bonkers looking at testers😂

I once saw a room with dark green walls and a warm sunny yellow ceiling. It was fabulous and I've never seen a nicer room since.

Napssavelives · 13/12/2018 19:12

Green ground actually looks like a slightly lighter cooking apple green when painted on the wall. Had to do 2 coats but I love it, very calming

If you have a navy sofa, how about F&B setting plaster

I did Dulux Denim Drift in an east facing room with 2 small windows to the south. I love it!

I love how the house is decorated in Mrs Wilson. Those blues (and house) are gorgeous.
