Ways to donate games console to charity

My husband was given a games console at work today as a gift, it’s one we already have.
We are planning to donate it to charity. Is it best to sell and then pass on the cash to a charity or perhaps give to a charity to raffle to hopefully generate more funds?

what about children's ward at hospital they have think they call them play specialist try to contact them make a call to the childrens ward

We discussed this very thing the other night . I would donate to an organisation or children ward as if they have no money the console would just get sold.

Also consider if it comes with no games they are expensive

My mum volunteers in 2 different charity shops & neither accept anythung with a plug anymore. You could sell & donate the money (you can donate 100% of a sale through eBay for example) or if you have a Women's aid shelter nearby, they may be able to take it to be used by children staying (directory www.womensaid.org.uk/domestic-abuse-directory/ )

It’s a Nintendo switch and my concern about donating to a children’s ward is that it would get stolen and the games are expensive too.

Oooh! There's an actual charity for that. Get Well Gamers.

How about Women’s Aid? Not the same but we donated all of the DC’s dressing up stuff to our local one and they planned to keep them there at the refuge so kids had something to play with when they arrived. The problem is that the games are very very expensive.

That's lovely of you Op Thanks

if you have a charity in mind it would probably be best to sell it and then give them the money to use as they need, from what I can tell switch's hold their value so you should be able to get around £200 for it especially if it is brand new boxed

I would donate to our local childrens hospital ours has a charity attached and i imagine most do they then could decide the best use of a games console xx

Darkbaptism · 10/12/2018 21:54

Thanks for all the advice.

Unfortunately Get well gamers don’t donate to either of the hospitals my son attends.

I think I will sell it and split the money between 2 or 3 charities/hospitals that are involved with my sons care.

Splitting the money is a great idea. However, GWG will probably look into working with them if you recommend the hospitals to them. I hear they're pretty good. Smile

One of our local charities does electricals they can also gift aid it but that’s a local only charity for a local hospice your city might have something similar.
