Hi, I have a secret santa to buy for! Said person is a history teacher, I don’t know her too well, so any ideas around this subject would be great!

What’s your budget?

HeffalumpsDaughter · 08/12/2018 15:59

What period of history is she interested in? Anything from history is pretty much everything, ever.

Soiree · 08/12/2018 16:00

Something from British museum shop?

Interested in this thread?

Then you might like threads about these subjects:

Maybe she's 'historied out'? Perhaps something different?

TressiliansStone · 08/12/2018 16:03

Or National Archives shop?

Soiree · 08/12/2018 16:04

Nah us history buffs don't get historied out!

concretesieve · 08/12/2018 16:05

Something for the women's suffrage centenary? There's all sorts of lovely stuff out there.

MillicentSnitch · 08/12/2018 16:06

Always some nice things here:

The Pat Barker book- The Silence of Girls - might appeal if she likes fiction and history woven together. Barker does it so well, and is highly regarded.

TressiliansStone · 08/12/2018 16:06

Or a month's subscription to the utterly addictive British Newspaper Archive? They do gift subs. I have investigated this in detail.Grin

Sallygoroundthemoon · 08/12/2018 16:37

Don't get a book as she might already have it and you don't know what period she's into. A nice heritage style mug or pen would be lovely. I also love a good historical tea towel but that could just be me...

TwitToWoo · 08/12/2018 16:56

How about a t shirt?

There’s one that says something like...

English teachers are important, but historians are importanter.

Which made me laugh.

StableGenius · 08/12/2018 16:58

The British Newspaper Archive subscription is a great idea - I would be in heaven. But might depend if she wants a 'busman's holiday' type present or not...

GreenKangaroo · 08/12/2018 17:03

What job do you do? And would you want a related gift?

KindergartenKop · 08/12/2018 17:07

A mug with kings and queens on it, a ruler with rulers on.
I'd love anything from here: www.historicroyalpalaces.com go to the shop section. The Henry viii Xmas tree decoration is 12.99 but awesome. What's the budget?

KindergartenKop · 08/12/2018 17:07

Or Google sufragettes tea towels.

OnTrain · 08/12/2018 17:08

I’m a teacher too green and yes I love my subject so would been happy to recieve something related.

Her expertise are in Ancient history. As I say, I don’t know her all too well. She’s a young history teacher, who I work with

Thanks kinder for the website suggestion, and again above to the museum suggestion x

A quick google of "Aristotle mug" brings up potential gifts. I bet Plato would as well.

But of course she may not be a fan.

BikeRunSki · 08/12/2018 17:15

Whets the budget? If it’s around £10, then English Monarchs mug?

OnTrain · 08/12/2018 17:15

Yeah, £10. Sorry forgot to mention.

Thank you!

OP posts:
OnTrain · 08/12/2018 17:16

The mug is perfect!
