Root canal

Hello mn

So I am having root canal done later on this week, and wanted some good advice, what do I need to know beforehand? Will it be painful? Will I be ok to look after DD once this is done?

Very nervous as everyone I have told so far has that ooohhh reaction.

Be honest, would rather be prepared!

Thanks in advance

It's fine. I had one last year.. No pain just an achy jaw and boredom while it's done. Mine took a couple of hours. I listened to music on my headphones to pass the time.
No real pain after, just a dull ache, nothing paracetamol couldn't deal with.
Good luck 🤞

Echo the above. It's fine. Really. Although I'm sure mine didn't take anywhere near as long as that.

It's the cost that makes you wince!.

Agree, they are fine. Once you're numb you will be aware that they are working in your mouth but it won't hurt. I've had a couple and the biggest issue for me has been keeping my mouth open for long enough!
No painkillers requires afterwards and you'll be fine to look after your DD.

Mine meant relief of chronic pain, so all good. Procedure didn't hurt at all (except the initial jab, I guess). My issue now is they say due to receding gum I may get decay above the gum line (sigh). I don't know how that is prevented.

Thanks guys for putting my mind at ease, really appreciate it. I've been thinking about it for most of the night! I sound so precious with the dd question!! Lol

I dozed off during mine.

I think mine possibly took longer as my dental practice is a teaching one.. Lots of interested students coming to peer at my teeth/ work being double checked etc etc.
Easy peasy and the relief of awful pain in my case so all good :)

I had one once whilst pregnant. It was done over several visits (don’t know if that’s normal) but it was absolutely fine. It was easier than a filling for me.

My 14 yr old had one done last month. Said it was fine! Not at all scary.

The protective sheet around the tooth stops any fluid etc entering your mouth so you can swallow saliva without the suction.

Worst bit is your jaw being open for so long. But no pain
