Sorry, that was "any idea or experience".

Horrid isn't it. One appeared on our front path once. Bury it, or double bag it and put in refuse bin?

Thanks olinguito. At the moment, I'm looking things up and seeing whether the council does anything to do pest control.

Double bag and bin. Is it just dead ie not obviously injured? It may have eaten poison somewhere else.

Our cats leave loads of corpses in various states in the garden and we just put them in the bin.

We live in a semi rural area and rats are just considered to be 'wildlife' rather than pests that need controlling, although the cats seem to be doing quite an admiral job, to be fair.

Thanks for your comments. I just wanted to make sure that putting it in the bin is ok because of maggots.

Well food goes into the bin and will be crawling with maggots after a day or so!

To be honest I'd kick a dead rodent into the bushes and just let it rot or be eaten by crows.

There is nowhere in the UK that is more than 20 feet away from rats by the way, so not a lot your council could do. Obviously if they get in the house then you'll need poison or a humane trap, but if they're outside just leave 'em be.

Thanks Titchy. We have minimum food waste and food waste doesn't usually carry diseases or fleas.
