Should I buy an Apple watch?

I am thinking of buying an Apple watch for my DH for Christmas but not quite sure if it's just a gimmick or actually useful. The latest version is out of reach price wise so am thinking of series 3.
Has anyone got one and find it great and what do you use it for?

Didn't read all of link. Apparently you don't need the phone if you have Bluetooth headphones.

You don't need your phone to listen to music. I have my watch set up to mirror all the music I download on my phone.

When I run I just wear the watch which is connected to my AirPods and off I go.

Bulky phone stays at home Smile

I have a Nokia one that looks like an actual, nice watch. I love it. Battery life is days and it's 'waterproof'.

I love mine. It's certainly not a 'woman's' watch as a PP said. They are very popular with both sexes. The only problem I've had is that if you want to use it for timing a race, the default apple activity app is hard to use. It gives you a 3-2-1-go timer which doesn't work if you want to start it with the starting gun! However, you can use the Strava app instead. If you do get one and want to sync the apple activities to strava, he will need the HealthFit app which works brilliantly. It just syncs the runs between apps.

Samantha thank you for the link!

Trash I imagine running is what it will be most useful for.

The more I read about it the more I quite fancy one myself 😂
