Towels and sheets

I was looking doing laundry and looking at the towels today thinking they looked a bit worn and faded. Then decided they were all between 8-21 years old.
The sheets are a bit newer probably between 5-15 years old.

I never think to buy new ones but might need to in the sales.

How often do you buy new sheets and towels?

Ooh god I don't know Blush Most of our towels are ancient and I have no idea where they came from originally.

The ones I do know - one is about 11 years old, one is about 6 years old.

Sheets are all new because I got new ones when we redid our bedroom 3 years ago. DS's are also 3 years old or less (the other two sets are more recent Christmas presents).

I think my mum still has some sheet sets which are older than me. I love them, they are so nostalgic.

I’ve been having the same thoughts about bedding and towels. I don’t think I’ve ever really made a conscious decision to shop for these items; mainly just picked the odd sheet up here and there when they’re on offer, but they’re all starting to look a bit tatty so I think I need to go shopping for new. That’s a very adult thing to do though! Grin

I got 4 large bath sheets from a price drop TV channel and i think they are about 15 years old. Only paid 7.99 for the four. They have kept the colour and shape.
Sheets are quite new as decorated this summer.

I've a couple of single duvet covers that I took to university with me 36 years ago. My DC still use them because they like them.

I still have some towels that we got for a wedding present in 1990, but they are very thin at this stage.

Most of our bed linen & towels were bought in the last couple of years as I decided to upgrade to some nice stuff. It will probably see me out Grin

I love buying beddingBlush but if I tire of it it rehome it. The duvet cover on my bed at the moment is from M&S and is 30 years old😱 When I bought it my (then) teenagers groaned as it was so typically mum. I still love it☺️

Sheets tend to wear out - so I replace if get very bobbly or very thin

Towels - I've got towels that are so much older than many MNErs Grin

Glad it is not just me who never thinks to replace even when they start fraying or thin in the middle. Or when the sheets fade.

Every couple of years for us.

Towels get replaced when they no longer dry us as intended. I've spoiled DH, before he met me he was used to ancient scratchy towels that do nothing. Now we have nice bamboo cotton ones which are incredible.

We buy new sheets a bit more often, usually when we see a set we like. We have been known to buy new sheets because the bed needs changing Blush
