Intensely achy, restless hips and butt; what's the matter with me?!

In bed ill yesterday, better today so trying to get up and about, but have the weirdest sensation in my hips and butt. It is like a deep, restless ache. No position is good; sitting, lying or standing all feel really odd, like I've just got to streeeeetch or bend or squat or something. Literally just sat down for a minute but back up again as feels totally odd.
Had bad SPD when pregnant and was really uncomfortable lying down, this feels strangely similar (but definitely not pregnant).
Any ideas?

Sit on the very edge of a chair put the ankle of the sore side on the opposite knee. Keeping your back straight lean towards your ankle. I have Piriformis Syndrome and get similar symptoms and this stretch is great.

Do you have particularly bendy joints in general. I have hms and get similar. Sort of an underlying cramp a bit like the urge to crack you knuckles. It's worse when I've been inactive or if I'm a bit dehydrated.

So, have plenty to drink, take a walk, if you feel up to it and, long term, consider magnesium and vitamin D supplements.

I get this quite a lot and I'm similarly puzzled. No answers really, but I'd be interested if anyone does have any insights to provide. I thoroughly sympathise, it's a horrible feeling!

I get this too. It's like a dull throbbing ache in my bum/hip area. No idea what is causing it. I end up using Voltarol to stop the pain when it gets too much

I get this. I always assumed it was normal if one hadn't had any exercise for a while! Perhaps it's not normal. I get it in my back, too, if I've been sitting for a while. I thought everyone did. Anyway, my solution is to exercise, or at least, to go for a walk or otherwise move around.

Food, that's a great stretch. A bit of moving around has eased it off a bit, but am now sat in DP's ridiculous zip-up infrared sauna (as recently featured on The Apprentice Grin ), and trying out your advice, really hits the spot.
Pick , yes, quite hypermobile, although not clinical. Actually did think it could relate to a few days of just flopping (like you said Time), losing some muscle tone and the body having to work harder to 'hold it together'. An 'urge' is exactly what it is like... Good advice about supplements and hydration.
Well, who knew a frustrated howl on MN would yield such support. Thank you, everyone!
